Unihertz Tank Review - a new contender for the battery autonomy leader title

Display

Unihertz Tank is fitted with a 6.81-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a Panda MN228 glass for protection. From the Display Settings, you can toggle on/off the Dark Theme, Night Light (reading mode), Adaptive brightness, Auto-rotate screen, and Lift-to-wake. You can also set the brightness level, wallpaper, font size, screen saver, screen timeout, and lock screen settings. Unihertz has also added options to select the headline/body font as well as the icon shape. The maximum brightness of the display of our review unit is 467.232 cd/m², measured on a fully white screen. This brightness is average for modern-day smartphones and ensures comfortable outdoor viewing. Even with a naked eye, one can say the temperature of the white point of the display is very high. Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. As usual, for a more realistic result, we measure them twice - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The white luminance measured on two separate frames is higher than the black and white luminance measured on a single frame showing 50% white and 50% black - that's 467.232 cd/m² against 382.485 cd/m², respectively. This difference is not that high and when we throw in the equation the black luminance from both types of measurements, it is visible that the static contrast ratio from both is not very different as well - ~1400:1 against ~1300:1. The temperature of the white point exceeds 12000 K in all measurements.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display is relatively uniformly bright. The top one-third of the display has an average brightness of 455.6 cd/m². The middle one-third has an average brightness of 458.6 cd/m² average. The bottom one-third has an average brightness of 466.3 nits. The temperature of the white point is higher than 12000 K in all points of measurement. The CIE diagram shows that the display covers more than 100% of the sRGB color space. You will get puncher colors from the whole color pallet. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
