Battery Tests

The Ulefone Power Armor 13's main selling point is its behemoth 13200 mAh battery. The unit supports 33W fast wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. It is so big, the Power Armor 13 can easily be used as a power bank for charging other devices. An OTG cable is conveniently provided in the package. Below we publish the results from our proprietary battery tests. All battery tests and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m² and with battery-saving features disabled. The battery of our review unit was charged in full for 2 hours and 47 minutes with the provided USB cable and USB Type-C charger. The charging process begins with a snappy rate of 1% per minute with the battery gaining 50% of its charge in 50 minutes. Afterward, charging slows down a bit, and the battery reaches 80% of its capacity in the following 45 minutes. After that, charging slows down significantly, even more so after 90% is reached. Hence, the last 20% need 1 hour and 12 minutes for the battery to be charged in full. The battery temperature fluctuation draws a prominent curve. It begins from 30°C and in 2 minutes jumps to 40°C, continuing to increase and reaching its peak of 53°C one hour and 20 minutes from the start. This level is maintained for less than 10 minutes and the temperature decreases as quickly as it has increased to reach 36°C in the end. During our intensive browsing test, the battery of our review unit lasted for 32 hours and 16 minutes. This is by far, the highest result on this test we've received so far. The former top result also belonged to an Ulefone smartphone - the Power 5S, which also has a 13000 mAh battery. The discharging process maintains a relatively steady pace until the battery drop to 40%. Until 20%, the process is slower but this is compensated by the faster discharging after the 20%. The battery temperature starts at 29°C and increases to 32°C in 1 hour and a half. This level is maintained for the next 18 hours when the battery temperature drops to 30°C for around 6 hours and increases to 33°C again at the 27th hour, maintaining this level until the end. The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. Our review unit's score from this test is 32 hours and 21 minutes. This is the fourth-best result from our test with the Power Armor 13 yielding only to its Power 5S sibling the Doogee S86 Pro, which has the highest result with an 8500 mAh battery, and the Oukitel K10 which has an 11000 mAh battery. However, the Power Armor 13 has a far larger display with a higher resolution, which should be taken into account. The discharging process is relatively steady from the start until the battery's charge drops to 3% of its charge. At that point, discharging slows down significantly. The battery temperature starts at 29°C and gradually increases to 31°C remaining at this level until the end. The 4K video battery life test uses a 2160p video at 30 fps with a ~55 Mbps rate. In this test, the battery of the Ulefone Power Armor 13 lasted for 29 hours. The discharging pattern is unchanged. The battery temperature starts at 31°C, reaches 33-34°C in an hour and a half, and remains at this level until the end. For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo is used. The result from this test is 13 hours and 16 minutes. Obviously, 3D graphics test puts a strain on the device, which despite that, manages to move the objects quite smoothly on the big FHD+ screen. The discharging pattern resembles that of the browsing and video tests maintaining a relatively steady speed from the start until the battery drops to 3% of its charge and at that point discharging slows down significantly. The battery temperature starts at 30°C and in 1 hour it goes up to 41°C remaining at this level for the next 8 hours and continuing to increase to reach 43°C at the end. The above photos of the Ulefone Power Armor 13 are taken with a FLIR thermal camera. The left photo shows the device's temperature during charging. There are three hottest areas with close temperature levels - 37.5°C in the area where the SIM tray is located, 37.3°C again in the upper half of the body but just right off the center, and 37°C for the connector of the USB cable. The second photo depicts the device's temperature during our 3D battery life test. In this case, the hottest part of the device with a temperature of 39.4°C is an area in the upper half of the body, just right off the center. The second hottest area with a temperature of 39.1°C is the center of the chin.

The Battery menu is a typical Android 11 one. The top of the screen contains data about the current battery capacity and status followed by the app status in the context of power consumption, Battery Saver, Battery Manager, Battery Percentage toggle. Some battery usage data is also available.
