Battery Tests

8849 Shark 3 by Unihertz packs a 11600 mAh Li-Pol battery with 120W fast charging and reverse charging support. All battery tests we run on the devices we review are developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m². Battery-saving features are disabled. The battery of our review unit charged in full for 1 hour and 9 minutes. The charging process is extremely fast from the start until the battery regains 40% of its charge - that happens 12-13 minutes from the start. After that, the process slows down but only a bit and it takes 30 minutes to charge and regain the next 40% to 80%. The last stage marks a significant slow down and it takes 21 minutes to complete the charging at 100%. The battery temperature begins at 25°C and in 10 minutes hits its peak of 45°C. During the second stage, the temperature fluctuates within the 43°C-45°C range for half an hour and after that, it begins to decrease, measuring 34°C in the end. During our intensive browsing test with the screen's refresh rate set at 60Hz, the battery lasted for 24 hours and 23 minutes. The discharging process is steady from the start until the end. The battery temperature starts at 25°C and after 1 hour and 30 minutes reaches 30°C-31°C remaining at this level until the end. During our intensive browsing test but with the screen's refresh rate set to 90Hz, the battery lasted for 23 hours and 1 minute. The discharging process follows the same pattern observed during the previous browsing test. The battery temperature starts at 25°C, increases to 32°C in 1 hour and 30 minutes, and drops to 31°C after 4 hours. It remains again in the 30°C-31°C range until the end. During our intensive browsing test with the screen's refresh rate set at 120Hz, the battery lasted for 20 hours and 31 minutes. The discharging process closely follows the pattern from the previous browsing tests. The battery temperature starts at 27°C, reaches 32°C in 1 hour and a half, and remains at this level until the end. The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. Our review unit's score is 29 hours and 24 minutes. The discharging process is steady from the start until the end. The battery temperature starts at 26°C, reaches 31°C in 2 hours, and drops to 30°C after 3 hours. This level is maintained for 8 hours and after that, the temperature drops again to 29°C, remaining at this level for 9 hours. Then it goes up again to 30°C for 3.5 hours and 31°C for the same period, measuring 30°C at the end. The 4K video battery life test uses a 2160p video at 30 fps with a ~55 Mbps rate. In this test, the battery of the Shark 3 lasted for 28 hours and 37 minutes. The discharging process graph is the same as the one for the 1080p video test. The battery temperature starts at 33°C, drops to 31°C in 2 hours, and maintains this level until the end. For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, Real Racing 3 is used. The result from this test is 19 hours and 44 minutes. The discharging process is relatively steady from the start until the end. The battery temperature starts at 32°C and reaches 34°C in 2 hours, maintained for another 2 hours, after which, the temperature drops to 33°C and subsequently to 32°C. Fifteen minutes before the 12th hour of the test, the temperature begins increasing slightly again and in the end it measures 34°C. We also ran Real Racing 3 as a 3D Graphics/Gaming test with the display's refresh rate set at 120 Hz. The result from this test is 12 hours and 36 minutes. The discharging process draws the same graph as the previous test. The battery temperature starts at 31°C and reaches 38°C in 40 minutes. It remains at this level for 8 hours and after that increases a bit to 39°C, remaining at this level until the end.

Battery Settings

The Battery menu is a typical Android 14 one providing information about the current battery status, followed by information about the battery usage. The Battery Saver is next with options to be scheduled or not. Finally, there's the battery percentage toggle. You can also manage the battery usage at app level - an option accessed from the Apps menu in the Settings app.
