Ulefone Armor 12 Review

Display

The Ulefone Armor 12 has a 6.52-inch IPS display with an HD+ resolution (720 x 1600 pixels). The detailed Display settings allow you to switch on/off the Dark Theme, Adaptive brightness toggle, the Night Light, choose font size and display size, manage the LED notification light, and the lock screen options. Moreover, from here, you can activate/deactivate the app drawer (launcher settings), the system tray area, and choose a screen color mode. The maximum brightness of the display is 455.698 cd/m² measured on a fully white screen. Below you will find our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display taken twice - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The white and black luminance of the display measured on two separate white and black frames is higher than the white and black luminance measured on one screen that shows 50% white and 50% black. The maximum brightness on a 100% white screen is 455.698 cd/m² and on a 50% white screen is 336.294 cd/m². However, the black and white luminance change in such a way as the contrast ratio achieved by both types of measurements does not differ and is in the 1500:1 range. Hence, the static contrast ratio from both types of measurements is around 1200:1/1300:1. The temperature of the white point is extremely high and exceeds 12000 K despite the type of measurement.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display is almost uniformly bright. The top and bottom one-third offer very similar white luminance levels at an average of 416 cd/m². It is the mid-one-third that shows higher white luminance at an average of 445 cd/m². The temperature of the white point stays stable around 12000 K across all parts of the screen. The CIE diagram shows a color space coverage that covers 100% of the sRGB color space. Moreover, that coverage is almost perfect, which is a rare sight on a rugged smartphone. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
