Ulefone Armor 17 Pro Review

Primary camera

Ulefone Armor 17 Pro is fitted with three rear cameras. The main camera uses a 108MP Samsung S5KHM2 sensor with a 0.7 μm pixel size and a 1/1.52" optical format. It uses 9-in-1 pixel binning for a 2.1 μm pixel size. The camera uses a 6-element lens with an f/1.89 aperture and an 82.3° field of view. By default, it shoots 12MP photos and you have to use the 108MP shooting mode in order to take advantage of the full resolution of the sensor. The main camera also records 2K videos at 30 fps. The second camera is an ultra-wide unit with an 8MP GalaxyCore GC08A3 sensor that has a 1/4" optical format and a 1.12 μm pixel size. The camera has a 118.8° FoV and an f/2.2 aperture.

The third rear camera is the 8MP Samsung S5K4H7 Night Vision camera. The sensor has a 1/4" optical format and 1.12 μm pixels. It is paired to an f/2.8 lens with a 77° field of view. There are two IR lights that enable night vision. Infrared light cannot be detected by the human eye but it emits enough light to be refracted by objects. The camera is capable of not only taking photos but also recording FHD videos. You can also simply use this mode to find your way in a pitch-dark environment when you check what's around you on the display with the Night Vision mode on.

Selfie camera

The front-facing camera of the Ulefone Armor 17 Pro uses a 16MP Sony IMX481 sensor with a 1/3" optical format and 1.0μm pixels. It is paired with a 5-element lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The camera records 1080p videos at 30 fps.

Camera App

The Camera app with this design and layout is largely used in the majority of the latest Ulefone smarpthones. Aligned at the bottom, you will see from left to right the shortcut to the photos and videos, the shutter button, and the camera switch. The list of shooting modes reels horizontally to the left and right above them. The default shooting mode is Photo. It allows you to adjust the zoom level, switch on/off the LED flash, HDR, and AI as well as choose from a number of filters. The zoom level below 1 automatically switches to the ultra-wide camera. For both shooters, when you click on the settings cog, there's an overlay with options including the photo resolution, location info, gridlines, etc. The second shooting mode is Video and it is available only for the main camera with an option to switch on/off the LED flash and manage a number of settings, including the microphone, video resolution, anti-flicker, etc. The Night Vision shooting mode switches to the corresponding camera. By default, it is shooting photos but the icon to the right of the shutter suggests that you can also record videos. Click it once and then twice to start recording. The 108MP shooting mode allows you to snap photos with the original sensor resolution. The Pro Mode lets you manually adjust the white balance, ISO, exposure, shutter speed, and focus style. There's a "Custom" icon appearing when you access the camera settings. It allows you to customize the app's layout, include more modes, select the accent color, camera sound, etc. The interface for the front camera is largely the same. If a shooting mode is not supported by it, the software automatically switches to the rear cameras. The camera settings are one and the same no matter where you access them from. They comprise the main options for the front and rear cameras listed as toggles. The Photos app is the default application to open and edit a photo. It arrives with Google Lens integrated.
