Doogee V30 Review - excellent design, performance, and battery life

Rear cameras

On paper, Doogee V30 has an impressive set of cameras for a ruggedized smartphone. Below we publish photo samples from the main and wide cameras and video samples from the main camera. The latter uses a 108MP Samsung S5KHM2 sensor with a 1/1.52" optical format and a 0.7 μm pixel format. This ISOCELL sensor uses 9-in-1 pixel binning for a 2.1 μm pixel size and outputs 12MP photos. The lens has an f/1.8 aperture and a 90° field of view. It shoots 4K videos at 20 fps. There's a separate 108MP shooting mode if you want to try it out with the higher resolution. The second rear camera is an ultra-wide unit with a 16MP OmniVision OV16B10 PureCel Plus-S sensor. It has a 1/2.76" optical format and a 1.12 μm pixel size. The ultra-wide camera has a 130° FoV and an f/1.8 aperture. It shoots FHD videos at 20 fps. Finally, there's the 20MP Sony IMX350 Night Vision camera. On the V30, it has an f/1.8 aperture and is aided by dual IR lights. It is also capable of video recording at 20 fps. We have reviewed many smartphones with this exact sensor for Night Vision and the V30 one does not perform any differently.

Front camera

Doogee V30 employs a 32MP Sony IMX616 sensor for its front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 80° FoV. The sensor has a 1/2.8" optical format and a 0.8 μm pixel size. The front camera supports facial recognition and face unlock. It shoots 16MP photos and FHD videos at 30 fps. Below are several photos taken with the selfie camera.

Camera App

The camera app offers most of the features only a click away which makes it easy to work with. There's the usual big shutter button is at the bottom with the shortcut to the photos and videos on its left and the camera switch to the right. There's a reel with available shooting modes appearing above them. "Picture" is the default one and supports HDR and AI. When you click on the settings icon, the options for photo shooting with the main camera appear. They include photo size, ZSD, self-timer, shutter sound, location, watermark, gridlines, etc. There's a zoom-in/out slider on the right part of the screen. Above the Picture shooting mode, there are two icons. The one with the single tree means you're using the main camera. The one with the two trees means you're using the ultra-wide camera. The same applies to the Video mode. It also supports HDR and has its detailed options appearing as an overlay on the screen after tapping on the settings icon. From those, you can set the video resolution, microphone, shutter sound, location, anti-flicker, and gridlines. When using the ultra-wide camera, there's no HDR and AI support. To the very left of the reel is the "Night Vision" mode with which you switch to the Night Vision camera. When this mode is on, the button to the right of the shutter button is changed to a night video recording button. To the right of the Picture mode, there's the 108MP shooting mode followed by the Beauty one. It allows you to adjust the degree of the beautification effects and fine-tune each aspect of those. Finally, to the very right of the reel, there's the "More" option under which you can see Pro, Portrait, Gif, Panorama, Mono, Bokeh, and QR code scanner. The Pro shooting mode allows you to adjust the white balance, ISO, exposure, type of focus, and shutter speed. The interface for the front camera is identical to that for the rear cameras but only the Photo, Video, and Portrait modes are available for use with the selfie snapper. Photo editing is done via the Photos app which has Google Lens embedded and offers the usual options - enhance, warm, cool, crop, adjust (brightness, contrast, white point, highlights, etc.), filters, markup, etc.
