Overview

Oukitel K6 is the first Oukitel smartphone to feature a Helio P23 chipset from MediaTek. This system-on-chip brings a number of new technologies that influence connectivity, camera and battery performance, along with the general CPU and GPU performance. The chipset is relatively new and it is interesting to observe how it performs compared to other chipsets with mature market presence. Besides that, K6 has other appealing features such as a big battery, quad cameras and a huge display, so we will put every aspect of the whole package to our usual routine of tests, measurements and research.

Specifications

Oukitel K6 sports a 6-inch in-cell IPS display from AUO with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2160 pixels) and a 2.5D curved Asahi Dragontrail glass. The metal frame and polycarbonate back are covered with an electroplated gloss. The model is based on a MediaTek Helio P23 (MT6763) chipset which uses the 16 nm TSMC process. The SoC employs eight Cortex-A53 cores - four clocked at 2GHz plus four ticking at 1.5GHz, and a 700MHz Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. There are 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, dual-channel clocked at 1600MHz and 64GB of expandable storage. The model supports 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G WCDMA (900, 2100 MHz), and 4G LTE-FDD (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz) network bands with Cat. 6 speeds. The wireless connectivity options include full-blown NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Display, and Bluetooth 4.2. Oukitel K6 has two front and two rear cameras. The rear dual module includes a 16MP Samsung S5K3P3 shooter with an f/2.8 lens, interpolated to 21MP. The auxiliary rear camera has an 8MP sensor. The front-facing dual module packs an 8MP Hynix Hi-846 sensor, interpolated to 13MP with an f/2.8 lens and an 8MP auxiliary snapper. On the front and back there is a dual-tone LED and a single-LED flash, respectively. The device is also equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support, and no 3.5 mm jack. Power is supplied by a 6300 mAh battery from BAK with a 5V/3A fast charger and MediaTek Pump Express 3.0 support. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Oukitel's delicate overlay.

What's in the box

Oukitel K6 arrives in a flat, rectangular, white box with the brand and model names imprinted on the lid in gold-coloured letters. The device lies on the left-hand side of the top level compartment, carefully packaged, including a pre-applied screen protector and a transparent silicon case on its back.
