Unihertz 8849 Tank Pad Review

Rear cameras, photo and video samples

Unihertz 8849 Tank Pad has the same main camera as the Unihertz 8849 Tank 3s. It uses a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch optical format and a 1 μm pixel size. By default, it outputs 12.6 MP images thanks to the sensor's tetrapixel technology. In order to shoot in the sensor's original resolution, you have to select the "Super Resolution" shooting mode. The sensor of the main camera is paired with a 7-element lens with an 85° and an f/1.95 aperture. The camera can shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. Selfie camera

The front-facing camera of the Unihertz 8849 Tank Pad uses a 32MP Sony IMX616 sensor with a 1/2.80" optical format and 0.8 μm pixel size. It is paired with an f/2.0 lens and can record FHD videos at 30 fps. Other smartphones which we have reviewed and use the same sensor for their front cameras include Cubot KingKong Power 3, Cubot KingKong Star 2, Cubot Max 5, Cubot KingKong X, Oukitel WP35, Oukitel WP33 Pro, Cubot KingKong AX, Oukitel WP30 Pro, Fossibot F102, Doos S100, Doogee V30, and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. Below we list three sample photos shot with the front camera of the Tank Pad.

Camera App

The Camera app is as simple as it can get. The bottom of the screen is occupied by the five shooting modes, while the shutter button, camera switch, shortcut to the gallery, settings, and flash options are positioned on the right-hand side. The default shooting mode is "Photo". It is accompanied by "Video", "Timelapse", "Pro", "Super Resolution", and "Mono". There's a "More tab" that gives you access to a QR Code scanner and the option to edit the available shooting modes. The "Pro" mode allows you to manually adjust the white balance, ISO, shutter speed, and focus. The interface for the front camera is largely the same but it lacks the "Pro" and "Super Resolution" modes. The Photos app is the default application to open and edit photos and videos. It arrives with Google Lens integrated.
