OnePlus 7 Pro Review
23 Mai 2019, 08:38:49

Overview
The 6th generation of 1+ smartphones marks a number of firsts for the manufacturer. For starters, this is the first generation that features more than one device per iteration. In addition to the regular 1+7, the company released the 1+7 Pro, which was, actually, the star of the show. Secondly, the OnePlus 7 Pro is a big step ahead compared to other 1+ models, in closing the gap that separates it from the real flagships. It looks like it has a long way to go but it follows in that direction. The most notable feature that sets this model apart is the advanced display. It is the first OnePlus smartphone with a resolution that's higher than 1080p. It is also the first curved screen on a 1+ device. Moreover, it is the first non-gamers' smartphone that offers a variable refresh rate and supports 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates. Finally, the pop-up front camera allows for this screen to be the first notchless, truly full display on a OnePlus smartphone after this trend was established with Xiaomi Mi MIX two years and a half ago. 1+7 Pro is also the brand's first smartphone with stereo speakers. Of course, all the other specifications are flagship-like as well. Be sure to check them in detail in the following paragraph before you follow along with us in this in-depth OnePlus 7 Pro review. We purchased our review unit from the OnePlus online store.Specifications
OnePlus 7 Pro (we are reviewing a GM1913 unit) is adorned with a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels (QHD+). Protected by a 3D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5, this advanced screen supports 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates, HDR10/HDR10+ content and covers wide-colour spaces such as the cinema DCI-P3 one. There's an optical fingerprint sensor from Fingerprint Cards built-in the display. The screen has no notch and punch-hole. The front camera is placed in a pop-up mechanism. It houses a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor and an f/2.0 lens. The unit supports face unlock and pops up in 0.63 seconds. On the back, there's a trio of shooters. The main one employs a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and a 7-element lens with an f/1.6 aperture. It is optically stabilized and has a Quad Bayer colour filter pattern. The second rear camera is a 16MP ultra-wide unit with a 117° angle of view and f/2.2 aperture size. The third rear snapper is an 8MP telephoto one with an f/2.4 lens. This camera is optically stabilized such as the main one and offers a 3x optical zoom. The rear cameras are aided by a dual-LED flash, phase-detection AF, laser AF and contrast AF.OnePlus 7 Pro is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset that houses a tri-cluster Kryo 845 CPU with a single 2.84GHz Prime core, 3x 2.42GHz Performance cores and 4x 1.8GHz Efficiency cores. There's an Adreno 640 GPU clocked at 720MHz with Vulkan 1.1 support that handles the graphics. The system-on-chip is aided by a 10-layer liquid cooling system. The LPDDR4X RAM on board is double-channel and clocked at 2133MHz. It can measure 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB. The built-in storage is of the UFS 3.0 two-lane one and measures either 128GB or 256GB. No possibility for memory expansion. A 4000 mAh battery keeps the lights on. It is paired to a 30W Warp charger but does not support wireless charging. As long as it concerns audio, the model arrives with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support. An entirely new, x-axis haptic vibration motor is on board as well.
The network bands supported by 1+7 Pro include 2G GSM (800, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 2.5G CDMA (800, 1900 MHz), 3G TD-SCDMA (1880-1920, 2010-2025 MHz), 3G UMTS (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), 4G LTE-FDD (700 Class 13, 700 Class 17, 800, 850, 900, 1700/2100, 1800, 1900, 2100, 2600 MHz), and 4G LTE-TDD (1900, 2300, 2500, 2600, 700 MHz - B12, 700 MHz - B28, 700 MHz - B29, 800 MHz - B18, 800 MHz - B19, 850 MHz - B26, 700 MHz - B28, 1900 MHz - B25, 1500 MHz - B32, 1700/2100 MHz - B66, 2000 MHz - B34). LTE speeds are Cat. 16 ones and dual-SIM VoLTE is supported as well. The wireless connectivity options of the model include Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with 2x2 MiMO, Bluetooth 5+LE, NFC with Android Beam and Tap & Pay. OnePlus 7 Pro works with dual-band GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. The device has a USB Type-C 3.1 port with OTG support but no 3.5 mm jack. It runs on OxygenOS based on Android 9 Pie.

What's in the box
OnePlus 7 Pro arrives in what already is a signature box - a white rectangular one with a luxurious finish, the 1+ logo in red placed at the top on the lid and the model name is embossed with a glossy finish to reflect light in contrast to the matte finish of the box. The same or similar reflective effect and finish we've seen on all 1+ smartphones we've reviewed from the OnePlus 3 on. However, this box is the most basic one in terms of contents. In addition to the device itself, the number of accessories is really limited and you don't even get a headphone adapter. For an advanced smartphone that does not have a 3.5 mm jack, omitting the headphone adapter does not look good.
- 5V/2A~5V/6A Warp charger (EU plug)
- USB Type-C data cable with 2.0-3.1 support
- Pre-applied screen protector
- TPU case for the back
- SIM tray pin
- Standard documentation
