Overview

Oukitel U23 appeared for the first time in October at the 2018 Global Sources Electronics Show in Hong Kong and is now ready for launch at Christmas time. This is the latest Oukitel smartphone from the U series which is known for offering models with the latest design trends, mid-range performance, good battery life and affordable price. The U23 is no exception. It is the first smartphone from this brand to employ a gradient colour for the backplate and supports wireless charging, which is a rare feature of budget mid-range smartphones. Specifications

Oukitel U23 is built around a 6.18-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2240 pixels) and a notch. It is protected by a 2.5D curved glass of unknown brand. The back is covered with a 4-side curved plastic plate with a glossy purple-blue gradient. The frame is made of aluminium alloy with a glossy blue coloured finish. Under it, you will discover a non-removable 3500 mAh battery that supports wireless charging (10W) and is paired with a 5V/2A fast charger. This model is based on a MediaTek Helio P23 chipset in its downclocked MT6753V variant. The octa-core CPU has the usual two-cluster architecture with the first four Cortex-A53 CPU cores ticking at 2GHz and the other four - at 1.5GHz. The graphics department is managed by a dual-core Mali-G71 MP2 GPU clocked at 700MHz. There are 6GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM on board, clocked at 1600MHz. The internal memory measures 64GB and can be expanded with up to 128GB. The camera department includes a 16MP Samsung S5K4H7YX front shooter and two rear snappers. The main one is equipped with a 16MP Samsung S5K3P9 sensor while the auxiliary one packs a VGA GalaxyCore GC0310 sensor. The rear cameras are aided by a dual-LED flash and PDAF. They are accompanied by a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. As long as it concerns networks bands, Oukitel U23 supports the following ones: 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G WCDMA (900, 2100 MHz), and 4G FDD-LTE (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600). These bands are supported by both cards simultaneously. LTE speeds are Cat. 6 ones. The rest of the connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2. The model is equipped with a USB Type-C 2.0 port and there isn't a 3.5 mm jack. The device runs on almost stock Android 8.1 Oreo.

What's in the box

Oukitel U23 is packed in the usual flat and white Oukitel box - with the brand name imprinted in the centre of the lid and the model name placed in the bottom right corner. On the back, there's the standard information for basic specifications and certifications. Inside, the device lies in the left-hand side of the box placed above an enveloped with documentation and there are two additional boxes to its right for the cables and charger.
