Overview

Currently, there are 16 smartphones on the market with the Mix word in their name, including the Xiaomi Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2. Of all the Mix-inspired smartphones, which we have reviewed, Vernee Mix 2 is the one that is closest to the original Mi Mix in appearance. Of course, it does not have its flagship specifications and innovative solutions but does have noteworthy mid-range specifications that sound quite appealing. In addition, Vernee Mix 2 currently retails at USD 165, which is an amazingly low price for a smartphone with a body of metal glass, 6-inch FHD+ display, Helio P25 chipset, two rear cameras, 4/64GB of RAM/storage and a 4200 mAh battery. In the following review, we will put our unit to the usual routine of measurements, tests, benchmarks and research, so we provide detailed and unbiased information about Vernee's Mix 2.

Specifications

Vernee Mix 2 sports a 6-inch display with rounded angles, an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2160 pixels) and a 2.5D cover glass. The same glass covers the back of the device and the frame between them is made of aluminium alloy. Under the hood, a MediaTek Helio P25 (MT6757CD) chipset ticks. This version of the Helio P25 is slightly underclocked. It has four 2.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU cores and four 1.6GHz Cortex-A53 cores. They are coupled with a dual-core 900MHz ARM Mali-T880 MP2 GPU. The model features 64GB of eMMC 5.1 built-in memory expandable with up to 256GB and there are two variants in terms of RAM - 4GB or 6GB. The RAM is double-channel, LPDDR4X, clocked at 1600MHz. Vernee Mix 2 supports the following network bands: 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G W-CDMA (900, 2100 MHz), 4G FDD-LTE (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz). LTE speeds are Cat. 6. The model also supports VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Display, Bluetooth 4.2. For satellite navigation, you can use GPS and GLONASS. A 3.5 mm jack and a Micro-USB 2.0 port with OTG support are on board as well. The camera department includes two rear shooters - a 13MP ON Semiconductor AR1335 main one and a 5MP GalaxyCore GC5025 auxiliary rear snapper. Both have 4 element lenses. The one of the main camera has an f/2.0 aperture. The two shooters are aided by a single LED flash and PDAF. The front-facing camera is equipped with a 5MP GalaxyCore GC5025 sensor as well but with an f/2.8 lens. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is provided. A 4200 mAh Li-pol non-removable battery keeps the lights on and uses a 12V/1.5A fast charger. The model runs on VOS on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.

Vernee Mix 2 is placed in a flat rectangular box that is white in colour and has a textile-like texture. The brand name is imprinted in the centre of the lid and the model name is placed there too in a blue flag coming out from the right side. The smartphone is accompanied by a number of accessories.
