Design, build and controls

The Doogee V10 has a subtle rugged appearance. The padded corners are not too pronounced, the rear shell is not overly sculpted. All in all, it is very neutral in appearance which does not mean it lacks character. On the contrary. This device is IP68 and IP69K rated for water and dust resistance. It can survive a soak in water up to 5 meters of depth for 2 hours. The MIL-STD-810G standard also means that it is resilient to drops, shock, pressure, humidity, acidic atmosphere, solar radiation, and other types of impact. For example, the V10 is designed to survive drops from 3 meters height onto a concrete floor. The Doogee V10 has a more compact and lightweight appearance compared to other ruggedized smartphones with a 6.39-inch display and an 8000-8500 mAh battery. Even though it is based on the S97 Pro, Doogee has managed to optimize the body weight and footprint slightly. More specifically, the device is 81.2 mm wide, 169.3 mm high, and 16.1 mm thick. Its weight measures 340 grams. The model is available in Classic Black, Golden Orange, Flame Red colors. The only element in color is the visible metal frame on the two vertical sides of the device. We are reviewing a Classic Black unit. The display takes up most of the front of the device and is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. As usual, it is additionally protected by the hard polycarbonate frame around it that protrudes from the screen's surface. The thickness of the bezels is improved compared to those of the S97 Pro, which has the same display. The side bezels are 2.5 mm thick. The top one is 4 mm and the bottom one - 6 mm thick. The top bezel houses the earpiece and to its right - the light/proximity sensor and the LED notification light. The top left corner of the screen has a punch hole for the front camera. The bottom bezel is bare with the smartphone supporting gesture navigation and navigation with on-screen buttons. The rear shell pops out slightly and is mostly flat with a rubbery finish. On one hand, this ensures a stable grip, on the other - the phone is not slippery. The rear camera module has a shape reminiscent of an octagon, housing three cameras, the LED flash, and the infrared temperature sensor. It is centrally positioned in the top half of the body. The bottom features Doogee's logo on a small octagonal plate and a rear-facing speaker. The rear shell finishes with a hole for attaching a hand strap. The top and bottom frames together with the four corners are covered with the same rubbery material covering the rear shell. The corners have additional padding, as expected. The side frames' metal part is visible, each attached with four screws to the chassis. The top frame is bare, The bottom one is for the USB-C port and a microphone hole. The left one houses the hybrid, dual-SIM tray and the customizable button. The right frame is the home of the Volume Up, Volume Down, Power buttons, and the capacitive fingerprint sensor.
