Ulefone Armor 15 Review - attractive design, built-in earbuds, and durability

Overview

Ulefone Armor 15 is a rugged smartphone with entry-level specifications and an intriguing feature - built-in earbuds. Dual front-firing speakers are also on board. Moreover, unlike most ruggedized mobile devices, this one also has a focus on design offering two beautiful colors in addition to the classic black version - red and blue. Coupled with a variety of diverse design elements, this creates a visually pleasing effect. Specifications

The Ulefone Armor 15 is built around a 5.45-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an oleophobic coating. The two front-firing speakers are placed below and above the screen. The top bezel houses the 16MP Sony IMX481 selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera department comprises the 12MP Sony IMX363 main shooter with an f/1.8 aperture and the 13MP Samsung S5K3M3 ultra-wide camera with a 106-degree FoV and an f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone is powered by a 6600 mAh battery that supports up to 18W fast charging and should provide up to 36 hours of talk time and up to 360 hours of standby time, according to Ulefone. A 12nm MediaTek Helio G35 chipset ticks under the hood. It houses an octa-core CPU comprising four 2.3GHz Cortex-A53 cores and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores. The CPU works together with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU clocked at 680 MHz. There's 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM on board as well as 128GB of expandable built-in memory. The latter can be expanded via a microSD card and a dedicated slot on the triple-slot tray. The other two slots are for Nano-SIM cards as the model support dual 4G VoLTE and the following network bands: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/8), 4G TDD-LTE (38/39/40/41), and 4G FDD-LTE (B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28A/28B/66). The SAR values for the model are as follows: EU head - 0.382 W/kg, body - 1.073 W/kg. The wireless connectivity options of the model include NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Cast Display. The smartphone runs on Android 12 and works with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou. There's a powerful antenna inside and you can enjoy FM radio without the need to plug in headphones. It is also equipped with dual front-firing stereo speakers, a USB Type-C port, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a separate customizable button. The model is IP68, IP69K, andMIL-STD-810G certified for resistance to water, dust, drops, shock, extreme temperatures, etc.

What's in the box

Ulefone Armor 15 is placed in a square box with the traditional Armor design of the lid - yellow color and industrial prints. The brand and model names are there along with a stick for the built-in TWS earbuds. Inside, the smartphone lies on the left-hand side with a protective foil on the display and the whole body.
