Doogee S100 Review

Overview

The Doogee S100 is very similar to the Doogee V 30. Actually, the two devices have identical specifications with only two differences. The S100 is based on a Helio G99 chipset with 12GB of RAM and 4G LTE support. The V 30 is based on the Dimensity 900 chipset with 8GB RAM, 5G, and eSIM support. All else is the same, so it is not a surprise that we expect an excellent all-around performance from the S100. Before we proceed with the detailed review, let's provide a quick reminder of the specifications and check what's in the box.

Specifications

Doogee S100 has an IPS display with a 6.58-inch diagonal size, an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The manufacturer specifies 480 cd/m² of brightness and 1500:1 static contrast. A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is used for protection. There's a V-shaped notch on the screen intended for the 32MP Sony IMX616 selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and FHD @ 30 fps video recording. The rear camera department is headed by a 108MP Samsung S5KHM2 shooter with an f/1.8 lens. It can record 2K videos at 30 fps and is adjoined by a 16MP OmniVision OV16B10 ultra-wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 130° FoV. Finally, there's a 20MP Sony IMX350 Night Vision camera with an f/1.8 aperture and dual IR lights. A MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789) chipset ticks under the hood of the S100. It houses a 2.2GHz octa-core CPU and a 1GHz dual-core Mali-G57 GPU. The chipset is paired with 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM that can be expanded virtually with up to 8GB. There are 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage on board which can be expanded with up to 2TB via a microSD card. The stable performance during high loads is ensured by a seven-dimensional cooling system with a vapor chamber. The S100 is fitted with a hybrid, dual-SIM card tray and supports dual 5G connectivity. It supports the following network bands: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 2.5G (BC0/BC1), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/6/8/19), 4G TDD-LTE (34/38/39/40/41), and 4G FDD-LTE (B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28A/28B/66). The smartphone also supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and NFC. It runs on Android 12 and is fitted with Hi-Res certified front-firing stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. A 10800 mAh battery with 66W fast charging and 15W wireless charging support powers the device. Doogee specifies 55 hours of calling time and 960 hours of standby time. The model is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certified.
