Overview

Alpha X is the successor of Maze's first smartphone - the Alpha, and its fourth smartphone ever. The manufacturer is new to the market but in a similar fashion to Vernee it has managed to put out some interesting models with a good build, interesting specifications and affordable prices. The Alpha smartphones are inspired by the design of Xiaomi's Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2 but are not exact copies of those models. Their most attractive features are the big full display and elegant design coupled with an attractive price tag. The Alpha X is more compact and lighter than its predecessor. It has a higher screen-to-body ratio, upgraded protective glass and rear glass panel, a single rear shooter and better camera sensors, slightly smaller battery. All the rest is the same. Specifications

Maze Alpha X sports a 6-inch display with rounded angles, an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2160 pixels) and a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The back is covered with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and the frame is made of ion-plated zinc alloy. Under the hood, a MediaTek Helio P25 (MT6757CD) chipset ticks. This version of the Helio P25 is slightly underclocked. It has four 2.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU cores and four 1.6GHz Cortex-A53 cores. They are coupled with a dual-core 900MHz ARM Mali-T880 MP2 GPU. The model features 64GB of eMMC 5.1 built-in memory expandable with up to 256GB and 6GB of double-channel, LPDDR4X RAM, clocked at 1600MHz. Maze Alpha X supports the following network bands: 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G W-CDMA (900, 2100 MHz), 4G FDD-LTE (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz). LTE speeds are Cat. 6. The model also supports VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Display, Bluetooth 4.1. For satellite navigation, it uses GPS and GLONASS. A 3.5 mm jack and a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support are on board as well. The camera department includes a 13MP Sony IMX258 rear shooter and an 8MP Sony IMX219PQ front-facing snapper. Each is combined with an f/2.0 lens. Power is supplied by a 3900 mAh Li-pol non-removable battery coupled with a 12V/1.5A fast charger. The model runs on near-stock Android 7.0 Nougat.

What's in the box

Maze Alpha X is inside a flat black box with premium looks. The lid is like a sleeve, from which you pull out the contents. The Maze and Alpha X logos are imprinted with silver letters on the top accompanied by a huge X engraved on the lid in black colour and a different texture. The handset is located in the right-hand side compartment and all accessories are placed below it:
