Oukitel WP13 Review

Display

The Oukitel WP13 has a 6.52-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. From the Display Settings, you can switch on/off the Dark Theme, manage the Night Light (reading mode), switch on/off the Adaptive Brightness toggle, choose a wallpaper, screen timeout, font size, display size, screen saver, manage the LED notification light and lock screen options, activate the "Lift to wake" feature. The maximum brightness of the display is 583.441 cd/m² measured on a fully white screen. Below you will find our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display taken twice - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

Unlike the displays of most of the recent smartphones we've tested, the display of the WP13 does not show big differences in the static contrast ratio depending on the type of measurement. Still, the two separate frames measurement yielded a much higher white luminance at 100% white display - 549.573 cd/m². The single-frame measurement yielded a 426.311 cd/m² white luminance. The static contrast ratio from the first is around 1500:1 and from the second - 1600:1. The temperature of the white point is relatively stable in the 7500-7700 K range. In real-life usage, the screen is bright enough and easy to use in a bright outdoor environment.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display is not uniformly bright. There isn't a single area that dominates explicitly. The center of the center is the brightest spot, followed by the left one-third of the screen along the vertical. The temperature of the white point fluctuates but not strongly. The CIE diagram demonstrates a color space coverage that's close to 100% of the sRGB color space coverage, however without an exact color match calibration - a standard feature on IPS displays of non-high-end smartphones. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
