UMIDIGI Z2 Pro Review

Overview

UMIDIGI Z2 Pro has been announced back in May but it's been only recently available on the market. Back then it was the fourth announced smartphone based on the new MediaTek Helio P60 chipset after the Oppo R15, Oppo R7 and Oppo A3. At the moment of writing this review, there are 17 smartphones on the market based on this chipset and most of them are from Oppo, Vivo and Nokia. The rest include single models from UMIDIGI, Ulefone, Xiaolajiao, Allview, BLU. Hence, the Helio P60 still gathers lots of interest in terms of checking its performance and power efficiency. In addition, UMIDIGI Z2 Pro upgrades a bit the quad-camera setup of UMIDIGI Z2 and has changed the main rear image sensor to 16MP Samsung S5K2P7 - it is from Samsung's latest ISOCELL Fast series of high-end image sensors and there are only four models that use it for their front cameras - yet another aspect of this smartphone that will be interesting to check. Strangely enough, the Z2 Pro has a slightly smaller battery compared to the Z2 - 3550 mAh against 3850 mAh. The Z2 Pro also has a faster RAM and more built-in memory compared to the Z2. Having in mind that the displays of the two models are one and the same, it will be a good way to compare the power efficiency of the Helio P23 and Helio P60 chipsets. With all this said let's start this review with the usual overview of the official specifications and UMIDIGI Z2 Pro unboxing.
