Oukitel K4000 Plus Review

Overview

Oukitel K4000 Plus is an entry-level smartphone that succeeds the K4000 and the K4000 Pro. To what an extent this is a true successor is about to be seen in this review, but the main focus of the device remains on the tough screen and big battery. Oukitel has also decided to add a new feature and that is its own OS with a privacy system and additional apps and services dedicated to different security aspects. Will these three main focal points and the low price compensate the entry-level specs? We hope that at the end of this review, you will find out the answer for yourself.

Specifications

Oukitel K4000 Plus sports a 5-inch IPS display with full lamination and a 2.5D curved top glass layer. It has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and is protected by a customised Asahi Dragontrail glass that has been toughened three times to reach a hardness of up to 9H on the Mohs scale and more than 1000 MPa stress value (ultimate tensile strength). It graces a body made of CNC crafted zinc alloy frame and a polycarbonate back plate. Under it, a MediaTek MT6737 SoC ticks, using a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU (Cortex-A53 cores) and a 600MHz dual-core Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. The onboard RAM measures 2GB, while the storage is 16GB and can be expanded with up to 32GB via a microSD/TF card. The model is equipped with an 8-megapixel GalaxyCore GC8024 primary camera (interpolated to 13MP) and a 2-megapixel GalaxyCore GC2365 front-facing snapper (interpolated to 5MP). The usual accelerometer, light and proximity sensors are on board along with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button of the smartphone. The battery has a capacity of 4100 mAh. It is a high-density, Li-Ion accumulator from SCUD. Arrives with a 5V/1.5A charger and should provide up to 200 hours of standby time in 3G networks. K4000 Plus features two SIM slots, each for a Micro-SIM card. The second slot can also house a microSD/TF card if needing more storage is more important than using a second SIM card. The supported network bands include 2G GSM (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz), 3G WCDMA (900 and 2100 MHz) and 4G FDD-LTE (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz). What's in the box

It's not a surprise that the K4000 Plus arrives in a white box with an orange lid that has the manufacturer's logo imprinted on the top. On the bottom of the box, there's information about some of the basic specifications and certifications of the model. The smartphone lies in the top level compartment. It has a pre-applied screen protector with another protector on top of it as part of the standard packaging. There's a transparent silicone case with a dotted pattern, which has been placed on the device as well. The rest of the package is really basic and includes the usual warranty card, user guide, a 5V/1.5A charger, and micro-USB cable.
