Overview

There's no doubt the Redmi K30 is a worthy successor of the Redmi K20. Sporting upper mid-range specifications, it does offer plenty of bang for your bucks. And no, the lack of an AMOLED display should not be considered as a drawback. We've spent quite some time with the Redmi K30 and it is definitely worth every cent and more. Before we delve into the very details of our review, let's check out the full Redmi K30 specifications and what's in the box.
The Redmi K30 is available at promotional prices on Banggood in a 6GB+64GB variant, an 8GB+128GB version and an 8GB+256GB configuration.

Specifications

Xiaomi Redmi K30 is built-around a 6.67-inch display with an IPS display panel and a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It is covered with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with oleophobic coating. The screen has a TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification and supports HDR10 but its most noteworthy feature is the 120Hz refresh rate. There's a pill-shaped punch hole in the display for the two front shooters - 20MP main unit and a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. On the back, there's a quad-camera setup with a 64MP Sony IMX686 main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The model is powered by a 4500 mAh battery paired with a 27W fast charger.

The Redmi K30 is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset. Built on the 8nm process, it houses an octa-core CPU with 2x 2.2GHz and 6x 1.8GHz Kryo 470 cores. The graphics department is headed by a Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU. In addition to having Qualcomm's Elite Gaming features, they are also aided by Xiaomi's Mi Turbo and Game Turbo 2.0 software. There are 6GB or 8GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 18663 MHz. The UFS 2.1 internal storage is either 64GB, 128GB or 256GB and can be further expanded.

The mobile platform features a Snapdragon X15 LTE Modem for LTE Cat. 15/13 speeds, 3x CA, 4x4 MIMO and up to 256QAM. The Redmi K30 supports the following network bands: 2G GSM (B2, B3, B5, B8), 2.5G CDMA BC0, 3G W-CDMA (B1, B5, B8), 3G TD-SCDMA (B34, B39), 4G LTE-FDD (B1, B3, B5, B8), 4G LTE-TDD (B34, B38, B39, B40, B41). The wireless connectivity options of the model include NFC with Tap&Pay, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Display, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac. There are an infrared port, 3.5 mm jack and a USB Type-C 2.0 with OTG support onboard as well. The Redmi K30 supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou and runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10.

What's in the box

Our Redmi K30 review unit arrived in a beautiful white box with the brand and model names imprinted in gradient holographic colors on the lid. The smartphone is well packages with a wrap-around protective film and lies on top of a solid tray covering all accessories. The envelope below it contains the standard documentation and silicone case, while at the bottom of the box, you will see the charger and cable. The charger complies with the US standard for electric sockets. If you live outside the USA, Canada, and some Latin American countries, you will need a socket adapter.
