Overview

Oukitel K5000 has been released during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and the Chinese National Holiday this fall. It continues the K series of Oukitel smartphones and logically packs a 5000 mAh battery. This time besides a large battery capacity, the manufacturer has thrown in a Galaxy S8-style 18:9 display as well as more advanced sensors for the cameras from Sony and Samsung. The device looks quite good on renders and on paper its specifications are very tempting, especially for the price you can obtain one now - USD 150-170. So we will put this smartphone to our usual routine of testing, measurements, benchmarks, and research as a reality check.

Specifications

Oukitel K5000 sports a 5.7-inch IPS display with an LTPS panel. It has an HD+ resolution (720 x 1440 pixels), an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 2.5D curved Asahi Dragontrail glass for protection. The back is covered with a 3D acrylic glass, while the frame is made of CNC crafted aluminium alloy. Under the hood, a 64-bit MediaTek MT6750T system-on-chip ticks. Manufactured after the 28nm process, it contains eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores. The first quadruplet is clocked at 1.5GHz and the second - at 1GHz. The graphics department is managed by a dual-core Mali-T860 MP2 GPU clocked at 650MHz. The RAM is single-channel, LPDDR3, clocked at 833MHz and measures 4GB. The eMMC built-in memory measures 64GB and can be expanded with up to 128GB. The model is equipped with a hybrid, dual Nano-SIM tray and supports the following network bands 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G WCDMA (900, 2100 MHz), 4G LTE-FDD (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz). 4G speeds are Cat. 6 ones. The K5000 supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth 4.0. It works with GPS and GLONASS and is equipped with a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support. There isn't a 3.5 mm jack, a headphone adapter is provided instead. Oukitel K5000 is equipped with a 13MP Sony IMX135 Exmor RS primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a dual-LED flash. The front-facing shooter features a 16MP Samsung S5K3P3 ISOCELL sensor, interpolated to 21 megapixels. It is coupled with an f/2.0 lens and a front LED flash. The device has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor from Microarray and is powered by a 5000 mAh battery from SCUD. It runs on stock Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
