Overview

Blackview's BV series of rugged smartphones does not need a special introduction. The company has managed to build a good name for its series of tough smartphones with each model featuring a specific characteristic. In the case of the Blackview BV6600 this is the big battery. As you will see from our battery life tests, it does a great job, indeed, in assuring power autonomy. Moreover, this smartphone is quite affordable. Finally, being a ruggedized device, it will be able to survive harsh environments and everyday accidents.

Specifications

The Blackview BV6600 uses a 5.7-inch in-cell IPS display panel from BOE with an HD+ resolution (720 x 1440 pixels). It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that's sensitive to the touch even when you're using the screen with gloves. Metal, tough polycarbonate, and rubber ensure the body's durability. The model is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810G certified for resistance to water, dust, drops, shock, pressure, humidity, temperature extremes, etc. The camera department of the Blackview BV6600 features a 16MP sensor which can be either Samsung S5K3P9SX or SK Hynix HI-1634. It is paired to an f/2.0 lens and adjoined by two 0.3MP GalaxyCore GC032A sensors. On the front, there's an 8MP selfie snapper that uses either a Sony IMX219 or a Sony IMX134 sensor. Its aperture is f/2.0, too.

The processing power of the Blackview BV6600 depends on a MediaTek Helio A25 (MT6762V/WD) system-on-chip. Built on TSMC's 12nm FinFET production process, it packs an octa-core CPU with four 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores and four 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 cores. An IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU clocked at 600 MHz manages the graphics department. The chipset is paired to 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. The latter can be expanded with up to 128GB via a microSD card. An 8580 mAh dual-cell battery with 18W fast charging support keeps the lights on.

The Blackview BV6600 has a hybrid, dual Nano-SIM tray with both SIM cards supporting 4G VoLTE simultaneously. The network bands supported by both cards are as follows: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/8), 4G TDD-LTE (40), and 4G FDD-LTE (1/3/7/8/20). The wireless connectivity options of this smartphone include Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Display. The smartphone also supports NFC and works with GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou. A USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support, a customizable button, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor are also provided. The Blackview BV6600 runs on Android 10.
