The Galaxy A36 5G is rated as IP67 based on lab test conditions for submersion in up to 1 meter of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. The manufacturer does not advise for beach or pool use. The water and dust resistance of the device is not permanent and may diminish over time due to normal wear and tear. The front and back of the smartphone are covered with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ except for the camera island. The flat frame is made of tough polycarbonate. The Galaxy A36 5G offers a stylish twist in four dazzling colors - Awesome White, Awesome Black, Awesome Lavender, and Awesome Lime. We are reviewing an Awesome White unit with a matte silver finish for the frame. The color is not flat white. It reflects light with a mesmerizing aurora-like effect that's pleasant to the eye. With a width of 78.2 mm, this is one of the widest smartphones on the market with a 6.7-inch display and a 5000 mAh battery. At the same time, it is one of the shortest ones with a height of 162.9 mm. Indeed, it is also one of the slimmest with a depth of 7.4 mm. Its weight of 195 grams is average for the display and battery size class. The beautiful Super AMOLED display on the front has very thin bezels on all four sides. We measured 1.9 mm on top, 1.5 mm on the sides, and 2.5 mm at the bottom. It has beautiful curved corners, and the form factor is excellent not only for viewing any type of content but also for operating with two or with one hand. The display glass has a 2.5D curve and sits flush with the rounded chamfered edge of the frame. The same design is applied to the rear shell glass making the smartphone's profile perfectly symmetric. The receiver is a tiny slit between the display and the frame. It is hairline thin and almost invisible and doubles as a second speaker for what is an excellent stereo sound. The top center of the screen is occupied by a punch hole for the selfie camera. In terms of navigation choices, you can use either on-screen buttons or on-screen gestures. Of course, the latter provides more screen estate. The rear shell is also quite minimalistic. It features an oval camera island with all three lenses vertically aligned in the top left corner. The island protrudes 1.8 mm from the glass surface of the back. The single LED flash is placed to the right of the camera island under the rear shell glass. The Samsung logo is subtly visible at the bottom. The bottom frame houses the dual Nano-SIM card tray, two microphones, a USB Type-C port, and the main stereo speaker. The top frame features another set of microphones. The left frame is bare, while the right one is the home for the Power button and the Volume rocker. It bulges up in the area of the buttons and slims back to its flat profile all around.
