Samsung Galaxy A36 5G Display

The Samsung Galaxy A36 5G is adorned with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution - 1080 x 2340 px. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and the manufacturer specifies 1200 nits of local peak brightness. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ is used for protection. This most probably a Samsung DIsplay panel using a Diamond PenTile sub-pixel arrangement. In this type of sub-pixel architecture, the number of green subpixels (small and elongated) is the same as in a classic RGB stripe one, but the number of red subpixels (mid-size and diamond-shaped) and blue subpixels (large and diamond-shaped) is twice as less. Hence, the panel uses subpixel rendering to preserve the number of pixels as in classic RGB stripe displays with only 2/3rds of the number of dots. For every smartphone with an AMOLED display, we create an APL graph demonstrating how the maximum brightness changes depending on how much the screen is lit, showing white. In this case, we show the results from two measurements. The green line shows the change in brightness in normal light conditions with auto brightness turned off. In this case, the maximum global brightness (100% APL) is 421.436 ². At 10% APL, the brightness is it is 510.588 ². The red line shows the brightness change in intensive light conditions with auto brightness turned on. In this case, the maximum global brightness of our review unit at 100% APL is 970.38 ² and the local peak brightness at 10% APL is 1084.623 ². The latter is close to the officially specified 1200 ² of local peak brightness. For the comparison chart above, we always use the peak brightness at 100% APL achieved by the display. The Galaxy A36 5G is very responsive, pleasant to work with, and gentle to the eyes providing optimum conditions for great visuals with less strain in all ambient light conditions. Our brightness uniformity measurement demonstrates the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G display has an excellent brightness uniformity with an average white luminance of 420-425 cd/m² at all levels and a temperature of the white point around 7300 K.

Vivid Display Mode

The Vivid display mode is the default one and when it is active, colors look a lot punchier. The color space coverage shown by the CIE diagram is close to 100% of the Adobe RGB space. While the magentas and reds might look close to natural, the greens will be a lot punchier. All colors look punchier under this mode. The temperature of the white point is around 7300 K.

Natural Display Mode

The Natural display mode is intended for occasions when you need the display to show more realistic colors. It is calibrated to 100% sRGB color gamut, slightly exceeding it. The temperature of the white point is within the perfect 6600-6750 K range.
