Design overview
Oukitel RT3 has a classic ruggedized appearance and the colored polycarbonate frame that's exposed in several places with matching colored elements gives the device an overall youthful and energizing appeal. The hard polycarbonate frame is covered with TPU and the corners are additionally cushioned. The rear shell is also protected with the same material and has several decorative elements that not only add to the overall appeal but also improve grip.
The tablet is compact and lightweight for a ruggedized one. It tipped our scales at 524 grams. The body (when held in a portrait position) is 133.63 mm wide, 206.47 mm high, and 13.72 mm thick. The available colors include black with accents in gray, green, and orange. We are reviewing a unit with green accents and we must say, it look quite fresh. The model is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certified. This means it is protected against immersion in water with a depth of up to 1.5 meters, from ingress of dust and sand, extreme temperatures and pressure, etc. It can also survive drops from up to 1.5 meters.
The front is occupied by the 8-inch display with thick bezels - 13 mm on top and bottom and 8 mm on the sides. The selfie camera is in the center of the top bezel with the LED notification light and the light sensor to its right. You can choose from gesture and virtual buttons navigation. The camera island is placed in the top-left corner of the rear shell with the two shooters positioned in a diagonal manner with the LED flash placed in the right corner of the module. The Oukitel logo is vertically aligned (when in portrait position) in the center of the rear shell.
The top frame houses the hybrid, dual-SIM tray and the USB Type-C 2.0 port, each with an insulating cover. The bottom frame has two sound outlets connected to a single speaker. The left frame has a mic hole, while the right one has a vent hole, a power button, and the volume up/down button.
Display
Oukitel RT3 is fitted with an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The manufacturer specifies 400 nits of typical brightness. From the Display settings, you can set the brightness level, switch on/off the adaptive brightness feature, the Dark Theme, or the Night Light. From here, you can also set the system navigation.

Software and connectivity
Oukitel RT3 runs on stock Android 12 with all traditional design elements and layouts at place. The Lock screen has the usual big Time widget with a small Date widget above it. The Home screen has a \search bar with voice search and Google lens embedded. A Dite/Weather widget follows with the two usual rows of apps at the bottom of the screen. by default, the apps are accessed with a swipe to the left. However, from the Home settings, you can choose to access them from an app drawer. Google Discover is not enabled. In addition to the Home settings, the Widgets menu offers a list of widgets and wallpapers to choose from. The Quick Settings and Notifications design is a classic Android 12 one. The Task Manager tiles the apps horizontally with options for entering split-screen and accessing a White List where you can protect them from being cleared when using the Clear all feature. Desktop shortcuts are supported. The RT3 arrives with a very basic set of apps pre-installed - Torch, Calculator, Clock, FM Radio, QR code scanner, Sound Recorder, Play Bppls, Assistant, YT Kids, Calendar, Keep Notes, Child mode, Game mode, System Manager, Toolbag, Phone, Contacts, Messenger, Camera, and all the Google apps. The Settings menu has two tabs - Settings and Function. The first one lists all options without grouping them and includes all the latest Android 12 features, including memory expansion. The Function tab lists Child Mode, Gestire Motion, and QRCode Scan. The Gesture motion includes several toggles - three-point screenshot, three-point camera entry, two-point volume adjust, and unlock.
Performance
Oukitel RT3 is based on the 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) chipset. It houses an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU with four 2GHz cores and four 1.5GHz cores. A Mali-G72 handles the graphics department. The SoC is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. The latter can be expanded. Of those 64GB, 53GB are available to the user. The results from the benchmark tests we ran on the device demonstrate the model's performance is on par with other mobile devices based on MediaTek's Helio A25 and Helio G35 chipsets, and the UNISOC SC9863A SoC.

A 5150 powers Oukitel RT3 paired with an 5W/2A charger. All battery tests we run on the devices we review are developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m2. Battery-saving features are disabled.
With the provided USB cable and charger, our review unit charged in full for 2 hours and 55 minutes. The process develops steadily until the battery regains 90% of its charge. That's 2 hours and 30 minutes from the start. The last 10% to 100% need 25 minutes to charge as the process slows down during this period. The battery temperature starts at 27°C and starts to increase gradually until it reaches its peak of 34° 50 minutes from the start. This level is maintained for around 15 minutes and then the battery temperature slowly decreases to reach 28°C in the end.
Our intensive browsing test showed that the battery drains completely in 10 hours and 34 minutes. The process is marked by a slow start for the first 20 minutes, a steady mid period, and a faster discharging end. The battery temperature starts at 27°C and gradually increases to 30-31°C after 30 minutes and remains at this level for 7 hours. Afterward, it continues to increase gradually, reaching 33°C in the end.
1920x1080, 30 fps, H.264, 20Mbps bitrate
The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate. In this test, the battery of the Oukitel RT3 lasted for 7 hours and 57 minutes. The discharging process during this test follows the same pattern with a slow start and a faster end observed during the browsing test. The battery starts at 27°C, reaches 31°C after 30 minutes, and 33-34°C after another 45 minutes. It remains at this level until the end.
YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo
For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo is used. The result from this test is 5 hours and 43 minutes. The discharging pattern resembles that of the browsing and video tests but instead of a faster ending, it has a slower one. The battery temperature starts at 27°C and in 1 hour and 30 minutes it goes up to 37°C, remaining at this level almost until the end when it gradually increases to 38-39°C.

Battery management
The Battery menu has a traditional Android 12 design and layout. It begins with the battery charge and status. This is followed by the Battery Usage data. The Battery Saver follows with options to be scheduled and to be automatically turned off when the battery regains more than 90% of its charge. The Battery Manager is another feature that can be toggled on/off. When on, it sends a warning message when an app uses power abnormally. Finally, there's the Battery percentage toggle with shows/hides the charge percentage in the status bar.
