Doogee S95 Pro Review

Overview

The Doogee S95 Pro is the company's latest addition to its S series - a ruggedized smartphone with upper mid-range specifications and features. It continues the modular trend set with the Doogee S90, which we have also reviewed. However, this time the model arrives with two module options - a 3500 mAh battery module with 5W charging capability and a Hi-Fi speaker module with dual 27mm speakers and its own 2000 mAh battery. In this review, we cover the smartphone only. We purchased our review unit from Amazon Germany. Specifications

Doogee S95 Pro has a 6.3-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. It is on top an aluminium alloy frame with TPU cover and a tough polycarbonate backplate. The handset is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810G rated for resistance to water, dust, shock, drops, extreme temperatures and other environmental challenges. A MediaTek Helio P90 (MT6779) system-on-chip is responsible for the performance. It houses two 2.2GHz Cortex-A75 CPU cores and six 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores. It is adjoined by a 970MHz IMG PowerVR GM9446 GPU. There are 8GB of double-channel LPDDR4X RAM, clocked at 1833MHz on board as well as 128GB of UFS 2.0 storage from Samsung. The latter can be expanded with up to 256GB.

Doogee S95 Pro has an 8MP Sony IMX134 front camera with an f/2.2 lens and three rear cameras - a 48MP Sony IMX582 main one with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide unit with 117° field of view and an 8MP depth-sensing unit. They are aided by PDAF and dual-LED flash. A 5150 mAh battery keeps the lights on. It supports 10W Qi wireless charging and is paired with a 12V/2A fast charger. The smartphone supports 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 2.5G CDMA (BC0/BC1), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/6/8), 3G TD-SCDMA (1880-1920, 2010-2025), 4G LTE-FDD (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/28A/28B/66), 4G LTE-TDD (34/38/39/40/41) network bands with LTE Cat. 7 speeds. Both SIM cards on the dual Nano-SIM/microSD slot support simultaneously 4G LTE and VoLTE.

The wireless connectivity options of Doogee S95 Pro include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Display, and Bluetooth 5. NFC with Android Beam is supported as well. The device is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support and lacks a 3.5 mm jack. The smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie. In terms of positioning, the model supports GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou.

What's in the box

Doogee S95 Pro is available with a different set of accessories and modules, hence, the box varies depending on the bundle you have ordered. We ordered the smartphone from Amazon Germany without any modules accompanying it. It arrives in a flat, almost square black box with embossed signs on its lid colored in navy blue.
