Display

Ulefone Armor Pad 2 is built around an 11-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels. It is covered with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and arrives with a pre-installed soft screen protector. The Display settings allow you to adjust the brightness level, screen timeout, color mode and temperature, and lock screen settings. You can also switch on/off the adaptive brightness toggle, the dark theme, the night light one, the auto-rotate, and the lift-to-wake toggle. You can also choose from a list of charging animations.

Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. As usual, for a more realistic result, we measure them twice - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen. The manufacturer specifies a typical brightness of 500 nits and our display measurements confirm that.

The maximum brightness of our review unit is 532.588 cd/m2 measured from the center on a fully white screen with the brightness level set at maximum. The brightness measured on a 50% white and 50% black screen is 496.107 cd/m2. The luminance level measured on a fully black screen and on a screen showing 50% white and 50% black is 0.333 cd/m2 and 0.322 cd/m2, respectively. The two separate frames measurement shows a higher white luminance and a black luminance that's very close to that of the 50% white and 50% black screen. Hence, the static contrast ratio is only slightly higher - 1599:1 against 1541:1. The temperature of the white point is in the quite agreeable to the eyes 7400 K range.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display is not uniformly bright. If there's a right-inclined diagonal line on the screen, the brightest part of the display is located around it from the top left to the bottom right corner with a wider bright center. The top one-third of the screen has an average brightness of 495.5 cd/m2. The middle of the display has an average brightness of 502.504 cd/m2. The bottom one-third of the screen has an average brightness level of 467.146 cd/m2. The temperature of the white point measured on different parts of the screen is from 7200 K to 7600 K. This level is quite a pleasant surprise as it is very close to the ideal 6500 K for a display of a mobile device. Indeed, it is not as straining on the eyes as "cold" displays with a color temperature exceeding 10000 K, for example. Still, the screen maintains a good brightness level and is comfortable to view outdoors.
The CIE diagram shows that the display has a color space coverage that's close to 100% sRGB but it is not exact. It is visible that the blue, cyan, and some green and orange hues will be punchier. At the same time, the purple, pink, and red hues will be slightly duller. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
