Rear cameras, photo and video samples

Ulefone Armor Pad 2 is equipped with a single rear camera. It uses a 48MP OmniVision OV48B sensor with PureCel Plus‑S technology. It has a 1/2" optical format and a 0.8 μm pixel size. The sensor is combined with an f/1.8 lens with a 79.1° FoV. The camera is aided by autofocus and a single LED flash. It records 2K and FHD videos at 30 fps. Some time ago we reviewed the POCO M3 Pro 5G which uses the same sensor for its main camera.

Selfie camera

The front-facing camera of the Ulefone Armor Pad 2 uses a 16MP Sony IMX351 sensor with a 1/3.09" optical format and a 1.12 μm pixel size. It is combined with an f/22. lens with a 76.3-degree FoV. The selfie camera records FHD videos at 30 fps. Facial recognition and face unlock are supported. Other mobile devices reviewed by us that use the same sensor for their front camera are the Ulefone Armor 24 and the Doogee V10. Here are sample photos taken with the Armor Pad 2 selfie camera.

Camera App

The Camera app has the same UI that Ulefone uses in its latest models and that we find to be quite user-friendly and intuitive to use. The bottom is occupied by the big circular shutter button with the camera switch to its right and the shortcut to the list of photos and videos to its left. The reel with shooting modes is positioned above those three buttons. The default one is "Photo". It lets you select the flash and HDR settings, switch on/off AI scene recognition, and add filters. There's also a 1x - 4x zoom slider positioned along the right side of the screen. The photo settings appear directly as an overlay with each option being a toggle that you can switch on and off. With the "Photo" mode, the camera snaps 12MP photos. There's a dedicated "48MP" mode if you want to use the full sensor resolution. The "Video" mode uses the LED flash only and its settings allow you to set the video resolution, enable audio recording, grdline, anti0flicker, etc. The "Night Mode" uses the rear camera and simply provides a longer exposure time. The "Film" mode contains various filters. The "Portrait" mode lets you adjust the aperture and beautification filters when you take photos of people. There's a "More" tab that contains Gif, Pro Mode, Panorama, Slow Motion, time Laps, and Intelligent Scanning (QR code scanning). The Pro mode allows you to adjust manually the ISO, white balance, exposure levels, shutter speed, and focus mode.
The interface for the selfie snapper is the same as the one for the rear camera with some minor differences that reflect the specifics of the selfie cameras. The same shooting modes appear and when they are not supported by the front camera, the system automatically switches to the rear one. The camera settings also contain options to customize the Camera app itself. You can add/remove shooting modes from the main and "More" list, change the way you access the "More" list, and change the accent color and camera sound. Photo and video editing is made via the Photos app with its familiar tools for adjusting the color tone, brightness, contrast, white point, shadows, highlights, etc. You can also crop, rotate, and apply filters and markups to your photos and videos.
