OS, UI and software

Oukitel RT7 Titan 5G runs on stock Android 13 and the UI is customized to accommodate the different screen size and form factor. The Lock Screen has a minimalistic layout with a huge Time/Clock widget in the center and a small Date widget to the left. As usual, swiping is the default way to unlock the screen. The top of the Home Screen is occupied by the Google search bar with voice search and Lens embedded. The Time and Date widget takes a central place and the bottom area is occupied by three rows of applications. A swipe to the left lands you on the second desktop with the list of apps. A swipe to the right from the Home Screen opens Google Discovers with the latest news tops which you can customize. This feature can be disabled by the Home Settings. From here, you can change the launcher and switch to a drawer-style of listing the apps. In the case of the RT7, all pre-installed applications appear on one screen. The Task Manager lists the app preview windows horizontally and each has the option to enter split-screen mode and access the app info. There's an icon to clear all apps and free some RAM. Desktop shortcuts are supported. The Notifications have a classic layout and the Quick Settings toggles appear on two screens below a brightness level bar.
Oukitel RT7 Titan 5G arrives with a standard set of pre-installed applications in their stock variant including Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Chrome, Clock, Contacts, Drive, Files, Flashlight, FM Radio, Gmail, Keep Notes, Kids Space, Maps, Messages, Phone, Photos, Play Books, Play Store, Settings, Sound Recorder, ToolBag, YouTube, YT Kids, YT Music, and Meet. Among those is also the Safety application. It is very thorough in providing various services for situations in which you might need help. Having in mind that rugged smartphones are usually carried in industrial sites, mountains, or the sea in extreme conditions, such safety features are more than welcome. You can customize them to your liking and need, including providing emergency sharing data with your real-time location and critical info, emergency contacts, safety check-in timer, subscription to alerts about nearby crises, etc.
The Settings app is the one that demonstrates the tablet-centric UI in general. The list of menus with the search bar on top appears on the left side of the screen at all times. The submenus and options expand on the right side of the screen. This results in a more compact layout and provides quicker access to the various settings. "Networks & WLAN" is the first menu and it manages your mobile networks, SIM cards, hotspot options, Wi-Fi Calling, WLAN settings, VPN, Airplane Mode, and Private DNS options. "Connected devices" is the second menu including Bluetooth, Casr, Printing, Chromebook, Nearby Share, and Android Auto options. "Apps" is the third menu and lets you manage various aspects of the applications on your device. It is followed by the "Notifications" menu - one of the app aspects that offers a lot of customization options. "Battery" and "Storage" are the fifth and sixth menus. More on the battery one in the respective sections of this review. "Sound & vibration" comes next with the traditional volume level bars, DND mode, Live Caption settings, a choice of ringtones, vibration and haptics, notification sounds, and others. The "Display" menu is eighth and has already been described in the respective section of this review.
The ninth menu is called "System Navigation". It is from here that you can choose from and customize the on-screen gesture navigation and virtual navigation bar. The "Wallpaper" menu follows with a choice of Live Wallpapers, a shortcut to the Photos app for a selection of images, pre-set wallpapers, and styles. The "Accessibility" options contain settings for the screen reader, display settings for the visually impaired, interaction controls, captions with live caption (again), audio settings for the hearing impaired, and accessibility shortcuts. The 12th menu is the "Security" one. It is quite standard with the four security status features - Google Play Protect, Security Update, Find My Device, and Google Play System Update. It continues with the screen lock settings, face unlock options, and others. The "Privacy" menu comes next including the dashboard, permissions manager, camera and microphone access, lock screen notifications, autofill service, activity controls, Google location history, etc. It is followed by the "Location" menu with its privacy context.
The "Safety & Emergency" menu is the 15th menu and contains options to enter medical information, emergency contacts, emergency SOS, crisis alerts, earthquake alerts, wireless emergency alerts, and emergency location service. The "Digital Wellbeing & Parental controls" is 16th. It is followed by the "Memory expansion" menu from where you can toggle on the virtual RAM expansion with up to 12GB. "DuraSpee" is next and turned off by default. The last but one is "System" with the usual update options, backup and reset, date and time, languages and input, multiple users settings, and gestures. The latter includes the "Quickly open camera", "Three fingers screenshot", and "Press and hold the power button" features. Finally, there's the "About tablet" menu contains the usual data about the model name, main specifications, software versions, IMEI numbers, MAC address, etc.
