Display

The display of Alldocube X is its main selling point and the main element around which all other elements evolve. It features a Super AMOLED panel from Samsung with a 10.5-inch diagonal size and a 2K QHD resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels). The display panel covers more than 105% of the NTSC colour space and 100% of the DCI-P3 colours space used by cinematographers. Alldocube specifies a 100000:1 static contrast for the screen and a typical brightness of 350 cd/2. The unit is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass of unspecified generation and is fully laminated. Full lamination increases the sensitivity of the displays and allows them to be even thinner. It is one of the main reasons why the tablet has such a slim profile. The display settings offer a Night mode and an adaptive brightness toggle. Samsung AMOLED panels have a VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik) certificate that they are safe for your eyes. The display of Alldocube X is fast and responsive, offers perfect viewing angles with minor loss in brightness, contrast and colour. We could only wish it offers better readability under direct sunlight. In theory, Active Matrix Organic LED (AMOLED) displays consume less power and provide faster pixel switching response times. By simply switching off the pixels needed to display the black colour, they are able to display "infinite black". They also have the ability to provide more power to each pixel with the decrease of the white area that has to be displayed on the screen. We measured a brightness range of 286-366 cd/2 depending on the active area of the screen that displays white (APL). AMOLED Panels are not some of the brightest at 100% APL but this panel is less bright than expected. The temperature of the white point is within the 6400-6700 K range.

Being a Super AMOLED display, it is expected that the screen will cover a colour space that is significantly larger than 100% RGB, indeed the CIE diagram confirms the specified colour space coverage. The Alldocube X employs a very specific type of a Super AMOLED panel. It utilises the so-called S Stripe subpixel architecture that uses 3 subpixels per pixel (RGB). The green and red subpixels are of one and the same size. The green one is on top of the red subpixel. To their left, there is an elongated and darker blue subpixel. The latter has its explanation in the fact, that blue subpixels wear off faster than the other ones. With a darker and larger one, Samsung has tried to extend their life. The S Stripe subpixel arrangement has been introduced for the first time in the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The same type of panel is used by Doogee Mix as well.
