Oukitel WP15 Review - stunning battery life, 5G, and rugged design

Overview

Oukitel did it again. It was one of the first to introduce a smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery and is now the first to break the 15,000 mAh barriers with the Oukitel WP15 which houses a 15,600 mAh battery. The brand has an extensive portfolio of big-battery smartphones and rugged devices. The WP15 is the well-balanced result of these years of experience. It not only offers a big battery but also 5G connectivity thanks to the Dimensity 700 chipset, a 48MP Sony IMX582 main camera. Last but not least, this model also boasts all necessary qualities and certifications to make sure it survives challenging environments and life occurrences.

Specifications

The Oukitel WP15 is equipped with a 6.517-inch in-cell IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and Corning Gorillas Glass for protection. Its V-shaped notch houses an 8MP Sony IMX314 selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 75° FoV. The camera department further comprises a 48MP Sony IMX582 shooter with an f/1.79 aperture, 75° FoV, FHD " 30 fps video recording. It is adjoined by a 0.3MP GalaxyCore GC032A sensor for depth and a 2MP GalaxyCore GC02M2 macro camera. The rear shooters are aided by quad-LED and dual-LED flash modules. Power is supplied by a 15600 mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging and reverse charging. Processing power is based on a MediaTek Dimensity 700 (MT6833) chipset. Built on TSMC's 7nm production process, it packs an octa-core CPU with two 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores. A dual-core ARM Mali-G57 MP2 GPU clocked at 955 MHz is responsible for the graphics. The smartphone arrives with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded.

The Oukitel WP15 has a hybrid, dual Nano-SIM tray with both SIM cards supporting 5G connectivity. The network bands supported by both cards are as follows: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 2.5G (BC0BC1), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/6/8/19), 4G TDD-LTE (33/38/39/40/41), 4G FDD-LTE (B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28A/28B/66), and 5G NR (n1/3/5/8/20/28/38/41/77/78/79). The wireless connectivity options of the model include Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Display. The smartphone also supports NFC and works with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou. It is fitted with a USB Type-C port with OTG, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The WP15 runs on Android 11 with Oukitel's overlay on top. The rugged body is IP68 and IP69K rated for water and dust resistance and has a MIL-STD-810G certification for resistance to drops, shock, pressure, humidity, acidic atmosphere, temperature extremes, and similar types of impact.
