Overview

If you're into rugged smartphones, you must have noticed it. The Oukitel WP is a twin of the iiiF150 R2022. Specs-wise, these two smartphones are identical. They differ only in design and slightly - in dimensions and weight. Hence, it is interesting to review the two and check whether there are differences despite the obvious resemblances. In addition, the WP17 is an attempt to add elegance to a rugged smartphone. As a result, you get a rugged device with a protective case - an oxymoron that has come to life. But before we delve into the design details, let's check the specifications and what's in the box.

Specifications

The Oukitel WP17 has a 6.78-inch in-cell IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and а 90 Hz refresh rate. The typical brightness is specified as 480 cd/m². The protective glass is Corning Gorilla Glass 3. A punch hole, centrally positioned at the top of the display, houses the 16MP SK Hynix Hi-1634 front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture, a 5-element lens, and a 77° FoV. The rear camera department comprises three cameras, a dual-LED flash, and a quad-IR module. The main shooter uses a 64MP Samsung S5KGW3 sensor with a 6-element lens, f/1.79 aperture, and an 81° FoV. It is adjoined by a 2MP GalaxyCore GC02M2 macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture, 3-element lens, and an 84° FoV. The main and macro cameras are aided by a dual-LED flash. Finally, there's the 20MP Sony IMX350 Night Vision camera (black and white) with an f/1.8 aperture, 78° FoV, and a 6-element lens.

The Oukitel WP17 is based on the 12nm MediaTek Helio G95 (MT6785V/CD) chipset with a 2.05 GHz octa-core CPU and a 900MHz quad-core Mali-G76 GPU. The SoC is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage onboard. The latter can be expanded up to 256GB. Power is supplied by an 8300 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The Oukitel WP17 has a triple tray for two Nano-SIM cards and a dedicated slot for a microSD card. Both cards support 4G connectivity simultaneously. The network bands supported by both cards are as follows: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/8), 4G TDD-LTE (38/40/41), and 4G FDD-LTE (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28A/28B/66). The wireless connectivity options of the model include Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Display. The smartphone also supports NFC and works with GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou. The device has a USB Type-C port, a 3.5 mm jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It runs on Android 11 with Oukitel's UI on top. In terms of ruggedized qualities, the model is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810G certified.

What's in the box

The Oukitel WP17 is placed what has become a signature box for the latest WP models - a minimalist white flat box with the brand's name on top. Inside, there's a plastic mould for the smartphone and accessories. The device is placed in the left-hand side wrapped with the protective case.
