Battery Tests

Ulefone Armor 22 is powered by a 6600 mAh Li-Pol battery with 33W fast charging support. There's a 33W charger in the box along with a thick USB-C to USB-C cable. All battery tests we run on the devices we review are developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m2. Battery-saving features are disabled.
Charging (1 hour and 18 minutes)
The battery of our Armor 22 was charged in full for 1 hour and 18 minutes with the provided USB data cable and charger. The charging process is quite fast for the first 25 minutes during which the battery regains 45% of its charge. Afterward, the process slows down only a bit and after 12 more minutes the battery reaches 70% of its charge. At that point, the slowing down of the process is significant and it takes 45 minutes for the battery to reach 100% of its charge. The battery temperature starts at 26°C and in 2 minutes increases to 33°C continuing to increase gradually. It reaches its peak of 45°C after 22 minutes and remains at this level for 10 minutes. After that, the temperature starts decreasing and measures 36°C at the end.
Browsing at 60 Hz (15 hours and 10 minutes)
During our intensive browsing test, the battery of our review unit lasted for 15 hours and 10 minutes. The discharging process is very slow for the first 1 hour and 45 minutes. After that, it speeds up and maintains a steady pace until the end. The battery temperature starts at 28°C, gradually reaches 32-33°C, and remains at this level until the end.
Browsing with Dynamic refresh rate (14 hours and 24 minutes)
We have also decided to perform a browsing test with the default refresh rate status called Dynamic. It switches dynamically the refresh rate depending on the content displayed on the screen. During this test, the battery of our Armor 22 lasted for 14 hours and 24 minutes. The discharging process is very slow for the first 1 hour and afterward, it gains speed developing steadily until the end. Unlike most cases, the battery temperature starts from a higher point - 35°C, and drops to 32°C after 1 hour and 30 minutes. It remains at this level for 10 hours, after which it increases slightly to measure 34°C, three hours later at the end.
Browsing at 120 Hz (11 hours and 8 minutes)
With the display's refresh rate set at 120Hz, the battery of our review unit lasted for 11 hours and 8 minutes. The discharging process draws the same curve as the one drawn during the test at 60Hz but after the battery drops to 10%, the process slows down a bit. The battery temperature starts at 29°C, reaches 35°C in one hour, and remains at this level for 9 hours. After that, it gradually starts to decrease reaching 32°C in the end.
1080p Video (17 hours and 30 minutes)
1920x1080, 30 fps, H.264, 20Mbps bitrate
The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. Our review unit's score is 17 hours and 30 minutes. The discharging process follows the same pattern observed during the browsing tests. It has a very slow start for the first 1 hour and 45 minutes and then speeds up maintaining a steady pace until the end. The battery temperature starts at 26°C, gradually reaches 30-31°C, and maintains this level until the end.
2160p Video at 60 Hz (8 hours and 27 minutes)
3840x2160, 30 fps, H.264, ~55 Mbps bitrate
The 4K video battery life test uses a 2160p video at 30 fps with a ~55 Mbps rate. In this test, the battery of Ulefone Armor 22 lasted for 8 hours and 27 minutes. The discharging process curve is the same as the ones of the previous tests - it goes slow for the first 40 minutes and then maintains a steadier faster pace until the end. The battery temperature starts at 29°C and increases to 38°C in 40 minutes, remaining at this level until the end.
3D Graphics/Gaming 60 Hz (9 hours and 56 minutes)
YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo
For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo is used. The result from this test is 9 hours and 56 minutes. The discharging process curve is a bit different here. It starts with the same slow tempo but in 45 minutes it gains speed and dives down more pronouncedly. An hour later, this process slows down a bit and the discharging continues at a slightly slower but steady pace until the end. The battery temperature follows the development of the process closely. It starts at 31°C and in 30 minutes hits 40°C remaining at this level for 1 hour and a half. After that, it drops to 34-35°C and remains at this level until the end.

Infrared thermography
The photos of the Ulefone Armor 22 above are taken with a FLIR thermal camera. The left photo shows the device's temperature during charging. The hottest part during this process is above the center of the upper half of the device with a temperature of 32.8°C. The second hottest area is the USB connector upon entering the USB port. The temperature there is 32°C. The second photo depicts the device's temperature during our 3D battery life test. In this case, the hottest part is to the right of the vertical center of the handset in the upper half of the body. This point has a temperature of 40.1°C. The second hottest part is the upper left corner of the display with a temperature of 37.7°C, followed by the center of the chin with a temperature of 37.2°C.

Battery Settings

The Battery menu has a stock Android layout. It shows the current battery status and four option menus. The first is about how much battery apps, processes, and hardware parts consume power. The second is about managing the battery saver. It's a toggle that can be manually switched on or off and can also be scheduled to do so at certain battery percentages. There's a battery Manager toggle, which we switch off during battery testing, and a Battery Percentage toggle that displays/hides the charge level in the battery icon on the status bar.
