Performance

Ulefone Armor 21 is based on the well-tried and tested MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789). Delivering reliable performance and excellent power efficiency, it is one of the most preferred mid-range chipsets. Manufactured using TSMC's 6 nm process technology, this SoC was introduced in 2022. The chipset offers an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. An ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU with two cores clocked up to 1GHz handles the graphics department. There are 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 2133 MHz and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage onboard. There's an option to virtually expand the RAM with up to 8GB. Of the 256GB onboard the device, 232GB are available to the user. The built-in storage can be expanded with a microSD card via the dedicated slot in the SIM tray. Other smartphones which we have reviewed and are based on the same Helio G99 chipset are Unihertz Jelly Star, Ulefone Power Armor 19T, Unihertz Luna, Ulefone Power Armor 19, Doogee S100, Unihertz Tank, and Ulefone Armor 17 Pro. Our Ulefone Armor 21 review unit scored 430,466 points on AnTuTu 10 and 372,082 points on AnTuTu 9. This is a typical result for the Helio G99 chipset and is comparable to the performance of the devices using the Snapdragon 750G and Snapdragon 695 chipsets. The single-core and multi-core Geekbench 5 results show a performance that's comparable to that of devices based on the Snapdragon 730G and Dimenisty 700 chipsets. This is further confirmed by the PCMark Work 3.0 result. The Geekbench 6 results are now limited for comparison but show that the devices based on the Helio G99 chipset have similar results.
