Design, build and controls
nubia Z60S Pro is targeted at the younger audience, however, we define its design as timeless and suitable for a much wider audience. The minimalistic vibe and exquisite finishes of the silhouette will appeal to even the most discerning of users. The device has a flat symmetrical profile exuding elegance in a cutting-edge form factor. This overall sleek flair makes the massive Cosmic Ring or Star Ring camera island even more prominent. It is the only element on the back of the device and its design with a "coronet" outside the module directly references the design of the lenses of analog cameras and the rings around them used for focus metering. It is also a subtle hint of the advanced photography capabilities of the Z60S Pro. The "coronet" has a "Be yourself" slogan on it. The Longxi Durable Glass covering the display is created for high-intensity outdoor use and provides a 100% increase in drop and scratch resistance compared to the previous model - Z50s Pro. The black metal frame has a matte finish and spans as a single band around the device. The glass rear shell has a finely checkered under-texture visible only from up close at certain angles. IP68 rating is also specified for this model meaning it is water and dust resistant. The device is available in Black, Aqua, and White colors. We are reviewing a black version. In terms of dimensions and weight, the Z60S Pro has standard measurements for a smartphone combining metal, glass, a 6.78-inch display, and a 5100 mAh camera. It is 75.98 mm wide, 163.63 mm high, 8.7 mm thick, and weighs 220 grams. The handheld experience is excellent and the width is good enough to operate the device with one hand within the top, bottom, or middle area of the device. For certain occasions, there's a convenient one-hand mode that can be activated with a simple gesture. The device is not slippery despite the glass rear surface. It also arrives with a stylish hard rear shell cover that is minimalistic and allows you to leave the device lying on its back without harming the camera island. The big 2.5D curved display dominates the front of the device boasting 2 mm thick bezels on the top and the sides and a 3 mm bezel at the bottom. The default on-screen navigation gestures create an immersive full-screen experience. Yet, you can enable the on-screen navigation bar if you find it as a more convenient way to navigate. There's a punch hole for the 16MP selfie camera positioned in the top center of the screen. The receiver is hairline-thin and placed between the display and the frame. It also doubles as a second stereo speaker. The second one is placed on the bottom frame. They arrive with DTS:X stereo surround sound. In addition to the main speaker, the bottom frame houses the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port with DP Alt Mode, a microphone, and a SIM card tray with a red insulating band. The tray can accommodate only two Nano-SIM cards. There isn't a slot for a microSD card, so there isn't an option for storage expansion. The top frame of the device houses an IR blaster and a microphone. The left frame is totally minimalistic as it does not have any elements. The right one houses the Volume rocker, the Power button colored in a bright red-orange color and a striped textured surface, and the slider button with a checkered texture surface. The slider can be customized and used either as a physical shutter for the camera, a mute button, or a key for recording, launching the flashlight, or game space. Most recent reviews
