Primary camera

Doogee S50 has two rear cameras. The main shooter is equipped with an OmniVision OV16880 PureCel Plus-S sensor with a 1/3.06-inch size that utilizes buried colour filter array (BCFA) and deep trench isolation (DTI) technology that reduces pixel crosstalk and improves the signal-to-noise ratio for improved images and video. The sensor is combined with an 80° wide-angle lens with an f/2.0 aperture. The auxiliary rear camera one has a VGA GalaxyCore GC0310 sensor and is used only for the bokeh mode. It is not an independent camera. Moreover, it is software interpolated from 0.3MP to 13MP. Again, as in all other affordable dual-camera smartphones, the blur/bokeh effect is very artificial. The rear shooters are aided by a dual-LED flash and phase-detection AF. The photos are with a resolution of 4608 x 3456 pixels. The main camera shoots 1080p videos at 30 fps. There are several smartphones that we have reviewed and utilize the 16-megapixel OmniVision OV16880 sensor for their primary cameras: LeEco Le 2 X620, Xiaomi Mi Max MSM8956, Xiaomi Mi MIX, Oukitel K6000 Plus, Doogee Mix 2, Doogee BL12000 Pro.

Secondary camera

Doogee S50 has the same front camera setup as the one of the Doogee BL12000 Pro. The first shooter employs a 16MP OmniVision OV16880 sensor combined with an 88° wide-angle lens with an f/2.0 aperture. is used for normal selfies with Facebeauty 2.0 and 3D facial recognition. Once you store your face, you can use it as an ID for fast unlocking of the smartphone. The Face Unlock system can capture and identify 135 of your facial features within 0.1 seconds. We must say that face unlock is very fast indeed. As usual, it works only if the screen is on. The 16MP shooter makes photos with a resolution of 4608 x 3456 pixels. The second front camera uses an 8MP OmniVision OV8856 sensor and a 130° wide-angle lens with an f/2.4 aperture. It is perfect for snapping selfies or photos in which you want to include lots of elements as the ultra-wide angle of the lens allows you to do that. It has to be noted that such a feature is rarely available on a sub-$300 smartphone. In this case, the two cameras work independently and below you can see samples from each. Camera app

The Camera app is one of the most widely used ones lately, especially by smartphones with dual camera setups. The main screen has a circular shutter button at the bottom's centre with a shortcut to the list of photos and videos to its left and a camera switch icon to its right. Above the button, the various shooting modes are listed. The default one is Photo and the others include Video, Panorama, Beauty, Bokeh, Mono, Night and Pro. Above the modes, there's a small icon showing the zoom level. The cameras support up to 8x digital zoom. The standard filters are accessed from the small arrow placed in the centre of the left side. The top of the screen contains the flash and HDR options plus a cog icon that leads to the camera settings. The Beauty effect contains three sliders - Onekey (overall beautification), Skin whitening, Skin smoothing. The Bokeh mode is the only one employing the two rear cameras. The Pro mode allows you to adjust manually the brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure, ISO and white balance. You can adjust these parameters from the camera settings as well plus choose a scene, picture/video size/quality, etc.
The interface for the two front cameras is almost identical to the one for the primary camera. They don't support Panorama, Bokeh and Bro modes but HDR is available for both shooters. You can switch between them by tapping on the icon in the lower right corner. The silhouette of a single person means you're using the 88-degree camera, while the silhouette of two people means you're using the 130-degree camera. The rest of the shooting modes and camera settings are the same.
Depending on the app you'll choose to open a photo - either the default Gallery of Google's Photos, there are two different interfaces for editing images, but they share lots of features such as adjusting the position, adding filters, adjusting the saturation, brightness, contrast, etc. There's a new feature called Google Lens that's integrated into the Photos application. After being announced during Google's I/O in 2017 it was launched in October 2017 for the Pixel smartphones and is available for non-Pixel smartphones from the beginning of this month (March). This app is designed to bring relevant information using visual analysis based on deep learning routines. All in all, it can intelligently recognize objects from an image and show relevant search results and information.
