Oukitel WP200 Pro Review
Oukitel WP200 Pro is now on Oukitel's Store. It will go on sale on April 1st priced at USD 599.

Design, build and controls

The Oukitel WP200 Pro inherits some design features introduced on some Oukitel WP models in the summer of 2024. The pinpoint of this approach is the one-piece rear shell made of durable and tough plastic. It has a diamond-like relief pattern that not only makes it even more resilient to wear and tear, but also adds a flair of modern luxury to this rugged smartphone. This type of design also improves grip and creates a slim, minimalistic look. The frame is made of nano-injection molded aluminum alloy and wraps around the entire device as a single flat band. The front is covered by a 0.5 mm thick Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The WP200 Pro has an IP68 and IP69K rating for being resistant to water, dust, dirt, hot water spraying, and extreme temperatures. More specifically, the smartphone can survive soaks in water of up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes and can operate in a temperature range from -20℃ to 55℃ and stored in a temperature range from -40℃ to 70℃. The MIL-STD-810H certification means the device has a military-grade drop resistance surviving 16 drops from a height of up to 1.5 meters. The new design approach by Oukitel is quite effective in achieving a more compact body and footprint. The smartphones with a 6.7-inch display and a >8000 mAh battery are not that many. Among the ones that have been available in the market for the past 4-5 years, the Oukitel WP200 Pro is the most compact model. It has the narrowest width of 77.85 mm with an average for this type of devices of 83 mm. The height is also decreased to 163.6 mm with an average for the class size of 176 mm. The thickness is also at least to 2 mm less than the average at 13.7 mm. The device weighs 311 g with an average weight for the size class of around 350 grams. The front of the device is occupied by a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a punch hole in the top center for the 32MP Sony IMX615 selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor in the bottom center part. The receiver is hairline-thin and is tucked between the frame and the edge of the display. The top and side bezels are 3 mm thick, while the bottom one is 5 mm thick. You can choose from two types of navigation mode - on-screen gestures (the default one) and virtual buttons. Both can be customized to your preferences. The rear shell is dominated by the huge camera island that occupies the entire top half, while the bottom features a plate with the Oukitel logo on it. The camera island has a round shape and its frame is decorated to remind of the focus rings of analog cameras. The vertical center of this element is occupied by the detachable smartwatch/hands-free with a release button at the bottom. The main camera and the LED flash are placed to the left of the hands-free, while the depth sensor and the macro lens are placed to its right. Unlike most smartphones with AMOLED displays that have the light/proximity sensor positioned somewhere under the screen, the Oukitel WP200 Pro has a physical light/proximity sensor placed on the top frame. A vent hole is located right next to it. The bottom frame is the home of the speakers, the USB Type-C port, the microphone hole, and the dual Nano-SIM card tray. The customizable button in red color is positioned on the left frame, while the Power button and the Volume rocker are placed on the right frame. The main design trait of the Oukitel WP200 Pro is the detachable Bluetooth hands-free that doubles as a smartwatch. It is placed centrally in the camera island with vertical alignment. The smartwatch/hands-free is released by pressing the button at the bottom of the camera island and is placed back by first tucking the top tip and pressing gently downwards. This accessory fits perfectly aflush with the surface of the camera island. It charges magnetically by two pins whenever it is snuggling in its place on the back of the smartphone. A black silicon strap is included in the box. You can attach the hands-free to its metal frame and enjoy a stylish and functional smartwatch. The display of this device is touch-sensitive. A swipe to the right from the clock screen opens a vertical list of functions - Activity tracker, Sleep tracker. Heart rate and blood oxygen meter, Call options, Sports choices, Exercise tracking, Weather, Camera Shutter, Alarm, Timer, and Stopwatch, Music player controls, Settings with screen lock, system, and about watch menus, Messages notifications, Monthly Cycle tracking, Find Phone, Torch, and Stress detection. A swipe to the left from the clock home screen gives you access to three of those features - the heart monitor, music player, and weather data. A swipe up opens a list of notifications and a swipe down opens a list of settings and features. These include Find Phone, Brightness, Timer, Low Power Mode, Always on for 5 min, DND Mode, Passcode Lock, etc. This list also includes the full settings such as Display options from where you can change the clock face among all else, Vibrate & Ring, Low Power Mode, Phone Call, Language, Screen Clock, and others that have already been listed above. In order to pair the device with the smartphone, simply activate Bluetooth on the smartphone and from the list choose to pair with a device called BT11 and you're good to go.
