Oukitel WP200 Pro Review
Oukitel WP200 Pro is now on Oukitel's Store. It will go on sale on April 1st priced at USD 599.

OS, UI and software

Oukitel WP200 Pro runs on stock Android 15 and it will undergo our usual software overview. The video is placed above, and below is our detailed text description with a multitude of screenshots. Whenever there are noticeable differences, they will be properly addressed. The user interface seems largely unchanged. The Lock Screen retains is layout with a huge Clock widget and a tiny Date widget. A swipe up is the default unlock style and the Home Screen greets you with its standard layout - a Google search bar on top with Voice Search and Lens integrated, a Clock/Date widget, a row of favorite apps, and a docked row of apps. The default launcher lists the apps on successive desktops. The Customization picker contains the usual Widgets, Wallpaper & style, and Home settings. From the latter, you can switch on/off Google Discover and change the launcher to use an App Drawer. The Task Manager lists the app preview horizontally with options to access the app info and split-screen mode. The Notifications shade and the Quick Settings remain unchanged in terns of element design and layout.
The WP200 Pro arrives with all standard pre-installed apps - Assistant, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Chrome, Clock, Contacts, Drive, Files, Find Device, Gmail, Google Discover, Keep Notes, Maps, Meet, Messages, Phone, Photos, Play Store, Safety, Settings, Sound Recorder, YouTube, and YT Music. The list also includes Gemini - your AI assistant from Google. The video above ends with a short demonstration of how Gemini works with voice commands. After the WP100 Titan, this is the second Oukitel smartphone to contain a Service Center app, and it looks like it is here to stay. Finally, there's the Toolbox app including a bubble leveller, pic hanging tool, height meter, magnifier, alarm, plumb bob, protractor, and a compass. A QR code scanner is also provided. All apps are in their standard Android layout and design, only the Contacts one seems stripped off of the usual styling.
The Settings app contains 23 menus with a search box on top. They are listed without any dividers between them and with monochrome icons in front of each menu. As a rule of thumb, the first two menus are about the smartphone's connectivity options. The first is about mobile and Wi-Fi networks, and the second is about connecting to other devices. The third menu is called "Apps". Here we've noticed one major difference - the app-specific settings ("App battery usage") for battery management are gone. The "Notifications" settings are largely the same. However, we've noticed the "Device & app notifications" sub-menu has been renamed to "Notification read, reply & control".
"Smart Assistant" is the fifth menu in the list with two sub-menus - "Gesture Control" and "Screenshot". The first contains four toggles for functions such as three-finger screenshot, three-finger camera app open, two-finger volume adjustment, and double-click to lock the screen. The second sub-menu contains a toggle to turn on/off the screenshot prompt tone. The "Battery" menu is next followed by the "Smart Key" menu. The latter manages the functions and/or apps associated to a single click, double click, and long press on the red button on the left frame. By default, a single click opens Gemini. The "Storage" menu follows with standard options to activate the storage managed and free up space.
The "Sound & Vibration" is ninth and contains all the standard options you're familiar with. The only difference we could spot is that the ringtone options for SIM1 and SIM2 are now available in the main list. The "Display" menu is next and offers the usual brightness level, adaptive brightness, lock screen options, dark theme, night light, display size & text, colors, screen refresh rate, and lift-to-wake. "Color contrast" is an additional set of options containing three levels of colors to choose from and a toggle to turn on/off high contrast text as an option. Most of the next menus are quite typical and remain unchanged over the past Android OS updates. The list includes the "Wallpaper", "Accessibility", "Location, "Safety & emergency", Digital Wellbeing & parental controls", "Memory Expansion", "Google", "DuraSpeed", "System", and "About phone".
We've only spotted a difference in the "Security & privacy" menu. The "Privacy" sub-menu is now divided into three: "Privacy controls, "Privacy dashboard", and "Private space". While the first two have been present so fast, the third is a new one allowing you to create a Google Account for your private space, set a lock, and install apps. The "More security & privacy" sub-menu remains intact. Another non-standard feature is the "SmartWakeUp" one listed as a separate menu. It contains a toggle to switch on/off the double-tap-to-wake function. As usual, the "System" menu contains a "Gestures" sub-menu for quickly opening the camera app, the power button settings, the prevent-ringing toggle, and the navigation mode settings.
