Fossibot F102 Review - excellent battery life, good performance, fast display

Display

Fossibot F102 is fitted with a 6.58-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2408) and a 120Hz refresh rate. Glove Mode is supported but has to be explicitly activated from the settings. From the Display settings, you can manually set the refresh rate to 60Hz, 90Hz, or 120Hz. By default, it is set at 60Hz. You can also hide the black background of the status bar or show it. It is from here that you also manage the LED notification light. Furthermore, you can select wallpapers, screen savers, display sizes, and font sizes. The display of our review unit is bright enough and comfortable to use outdoors. Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. As usual, for a more realistic result, we measure them twice - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The maximum brightness of our review unit is 518.789 cd/m² measured from the center on a fully white screen. The brightness measured on a 50% white and 50% black screen is 452.547 cd/m². The luminance level measured on a fully black screen and on a screen showing 50% white and 50% black is 0.321 cd/m² and 0.307 cd/m², respectively. It is clear that there shouldn't be a significant difference in the resulting contrast ratios which are 1616:1 and 1474:1, respectively. The temperature of the white point is in the 11000 K range.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display has a brighter middle with the top and bottom parts that are less bright. The top one-third of the display has an average brightness of 469 cd/m². The middle one-third has an average brightness of 504 cd/m². The bottom one-third has an average brightness of 495.5 cd/m². The temperature of the white point measured on different parts of the screen gravitates around 11000-11900 K. The CIE diagram shows that the display covers more than 100% of the sRGB color space. The coverage of the blues, cyans, and magentas shows minor deviations. However, the one of the reds, oranges, yellows, and greens is not. You will get puncher light greens, yellows, and orange hues with subtler reds and dark greens. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
