Fossibot F102 Review - excellent battery life, good performance, fast display

MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789) is the chipset fueling the Fossibot F102. It is one of the most widely used mid-range 4G chipsets in smartphones. Indeed, we've tested quite a bunch of smartphones based on this SoC and it has proven to provide stable and reliable in every way performance. Manufactured using TSMC's 6 nm process technology, this SoC was introduced in 2022. One of its advantages over older production nodes is the increased power efficiency. It also supports big displays with high resolutions, fast refresh rates, and big camera sensors. The chipset offers an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. An ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU with two cores clocked up to 1000MHz handles the graphics department. There are 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 2133 MHz and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage onboard. There's an option to virtually expand the RAM with 3GB, 5GB, or 8GB from the Memory Expansion menu in the settings. Of the 256GB onboard the device, 241GB are available to the user. The built-in storage can be expanded via a microSD card slot in the hybrid, dual-SIM tray. Other smartphones which we have reviewed and are based on the same Helio G99 chipset are Unihertz Jelly Star, Ulefone Power Armor 19T, Unihertz Luna, Ulefone Power Armor 19, Doogee S100, Unihertz Tank, and Ulefone Armor 17 Pro. Our Fossibot F102 review unit scored 387,346 points on AnTuTu 9 and 451,366 points on AnTuTu 10. This is one of the best results of this chipset on AnTuTu 9 from all devices based on it we've tested. It is easily comparable to the performance of the devices using the Snapdragon 845, Snapdragon 750G, and Snapdragon 695 chipsets. The single-core and multi-core Geekbench 5 results show a performance that's on par with that of devices based on the Snapdragon 730 and Dimenisty 700 chipsets. This is further confirmed by the PCMark Work 3.0 result. The Geekbench 6 results are now limited for comparison but show that the F102 delivers a performance that's typical for Helio G99-based smartphones.
