Battery Tests
Cubot Max 2 is equipped with a 5000 mAh Li-Pol battery coupled to a 5V/2A fast charger. According to Cubot, the battery should ensure about 8 hours of gaming, 15 hours of video playing, 200 hours of music, and 400 hours of standby. We'll check some of these with our proprietary battery life tests developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m2. Battery saving features are disabled, including the Battery Manager
Our Max 2 review unit needed 3 hours and 32 minutes to charge its 5000 mAh battery from 0% to 100% with its own cable and charger. The charging process maintains almost a steady pace for the first 2 hours and 30 minutes during which the battery gains 80% of its capacity. After that, the charging speed drops significantly and even more, after 90% is reached. So, the next 1 hour and 2 minutes go for charging the remaining 20%. The battery temperature starts at 25°C and remains unchanged until the end.
During our intensive browsing test, the battery of our review unit lasted for 12 hours and 21 minutes. The discharging process develops at a steady speed until the battery charge drops to 80%. After that, discharging speeds up a bit and develops steadily until the end. The battery temperature starts at 25°C and maintains this level until the end with occasional drops to 24°C.
1920x1080, 30 fps, H.264, 20Mbps bitrate
The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. Our review unit's score from this test is 18 hours and 30 minutes. The discharging develops steadily until the battery drops to 2% of its capacity. These last 2% need 40 minutes to discharge completely. The battery temperature stays at 25°C from the start until the end.
YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo
For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo is used. The battery of our review unit lasted for 12 hours and 31 minutes. Despite the low display resolution, the frames per second were quite low. The discharging process has the same pattern of being steady until the battery drops to 2% of its capacity and it takes around 20 minutes to drop to 0% from there. The battery temperature stays at 25°C from the start until the end with occasional drops to 24°C.

Battery Settings
The Battery menu is a typical Android 9 Pie one. It gives information about the battery's current capacity, charging/not charging status, battery usage data. The usual Standby intelligent power saving toggle is preserved along with the Battery saver one. The second is accompanied by "Turn off now" button which appeared for the first time in Android 9. The app-specific battery optimization options are gone but can still be accessed from the Special app access list in the App & Notifications group of settings. A new feature has been made available - Battery Manager. It detects when apps are draining power and notifies you so you can take actions by restricting them if you choose so. A Battery Percentage toggle is provided as well.
