Display

The Ulefone Armor X31 Pro is built around a 6.56-inch IPS display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and you can choose from 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, and dynamic refresh rate from the Display settings. These settings also include features such as color temperature and color mode, an adaptive brightness toggle, and many others that are more related to the model's UI than directly to display properties. From the Special Function menu in the Settings, you can also activate Gloves Mode and make the screen responsive to glove touch input.

Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. If you follow our smartphone reviews, you already know that for a more realistic result, we make two different measurements - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

A single frame, 50% white / 50% black

Brightness White luminance Black luminance Contrast Color temperature
100 % 592.381 cd/m2 0.325 cd/m2 1823 : 1 8938
0 % 29.411 cd/m2 0.013 cd/m2 2262 : 1 8714 K

Two separate black and white frames

Brightness White luminance Black luminance Contrast Color temperature
100 % 806.106 cd/m2 0.428 cd/m2 1883 : 1 8958 K
0 % 31.707 cd/m2 0.017 cd/m2 1865 : 1 8709 K
The display of the Armor X31 Pro is the brightest IPS display on a smartphone we've tested. The maximum display brightness we measured is 806.106 cd/m2 recorded from the center on a fully white screen during the two-separate-frames measurement. In the other type of measurement on a 50% white and a 50% black screen, we measured a maximum white luminance of 592.381 cd/m2. The black luminance changes proportionally and so does the contrast ratio which is in the 1800:1 - 1900:1 range mostly. The temperature of the white point is around 8700-8900 K.
Display brightness uniformity
Position Left Center Right
Top 736.543 cd/m2 / 8614 K 744.394 cd/m2 / 8652 K 744.086 cd/m2 / 8703 K
Center 764.106 cd/m2 / 8875 K 803.042 cd/m2 / 8873 K 800.181 cd/m2 / 8862 K
Bottom 728.075 cd/m2 / 8985 K 743.049 cd/m2 / 8951 K 729.842 cd/m2 / 8937 K
Our brightness uniformity measurement demonstrates the high brightness of the screen at all points of measurement with a brighter middle and relatively equally bright top and bottom. The top one-third of the screen has an average brightness of around 741.674 nits and a temperature of the white point of around 8600-8700 K. The middle one-third has an average brightness of 789.1 nits and a temperature of the white point of around 8900 K. Finally, the bottom one-third has an average brightness of 733.655 nits. The temperature of the white point at this tier is again in the 8900-9000 K range.
The CIE diagram demonstrates a color space that's close to 100% sRGB but is not exact. It suggests that the blue, cyan, dark green, orange, and red hues look duller, while the light green, yellow, and light orange hues look punchier. The magenta and pink hues seem to be covered correctly. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
