OS, UI and software
Ulefone Armor X31 Pro runs on Android 14 with an expanded set of customization options and useful tools that make the device an unmistakable Ulefone model. The Lock Screen maintains a minimalistic layout which can be changed from Settings => Display => Lock Screen Layout. A small icon at the bottom right corner opens a second screen with shortcuts to the torch, calculator, camera, and voice assistant with access to the Magazine Unlock. When the device is locked and charging there's a dedicated charging animation screen, which can also be set from Settings => Display. Among all else, this screen also displays information about the charging rate. The Home Screen maintains a layout that has become a standard for Ulefone smartphones. The top is occupied by the usual Google Search bar with integrated Lens and Voice search. It is followed by a small Clock/Date widget and a Weather widget. The lower half of the screen contains a shortcut to the Remo Control and Service Center apps, a row of favorite apps, and a row of docked applications. Desktop shortcuts are supported and this time with the beautiful background blur that Ulefone uses on several occasions. The Volume and Sound options remain in their stock design and layout.
By default, the device arrives with an activated app drawer. From the Customization Picker => Home settings you can switch the desktop mode to list the apps in successive screens. The Customization Picker itself is of the fancier type with a Home Screen preview above a reel of various options - Widgets, Effects for screen transition, Wallpapers, and Home settings. In addition to switching the desktop mode, the Home settings allow you to toggle on/off the notification dots, Google Discover, and the Easy Launcher, and set up the icon size, the glide gesture, and other features. The Task Manager tiles the app previews horizontally with options to access the app info, enter split-screen mode (if supported by the app), and lock/unlock the app from being cleared from the background. The Notifications shade and the Quick Settings toggles are in a traditional Android design and layout.
Ulefone Armor X31 Pro has an extended set of pre-installed applications. The standard ones comprise the Assistant, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Children space, Chrome, Clock, Contacts, Drive, Easy Launcher, Files, Find Device, FM radio, Game Mode, Gmail, Google Discover, Maps, Meet, Messages, Phone, Photos, Play Store, Safety, Service Center, Settings, Sound Recorder, YouTube, and YT Music. The Calculator has a standard mode, a scientific mode, and a section for converting different measurement units. The Children Space provides a parent-controlled environment for kids and students. The EasyLauncher is for elders or for visually impaired people who need access to only the very basic functions of a smartphone. The FM Radio app works without the need to plug in headphones. The Game Mode blocks all notifications while you're playing.
The Ulefone Armor X31 Pro also has other applications that are not found on every device. There's a dedicated Themes application from where you can choose, download, and set themes and wallpapers. The Mobile Guardian contains tools for power management, app lock, cleaning rubbish, speeding the system up, phone traffic, and notifications. It has a tab called Toolbox for more granular control over what files you want to clean - images, videos, audio, apps, etc. Usually, the Mobile Guardian contains a Freezer option for apps, and on the Armor X31 Pro, it exists as a separate application. There's also a Cleaning Assistant app that helps you clean the device physically. It has a dedicated vibration dedusting feature, dead pixel detection feature, and acceleration optimization feature. The Outdoor Tools app includes various useful tools such as a Height Meter, Compass, Gradienter, Flashlight, Pic Hanging, Magnifier, Alarm bell, Plumb Bob, BArometer, Protractor, Noise Test, Pedometer, Funny Sound, and Underwater Camera. The Remote Control app uses the IR blaster to turn your smartphone into a convenient remote controller for various appliances and electronic devices. The Widget Box is also listed as a separate app and its settings can be also found in Settings => Accessibility. Finally, there's a preinstalled Netflix app because the Armor X31 Pro is Widevine L1-certified.
The latest Ulefone smartphones have a "Settings" app with a settings search bar on top of a list of 23 menus separated by a thin gray line and designated with a colorful icon.
