Ulefone Armor 24 Review - impressive battery life and an excellent overall package for the price

Overview

Ulefone Armor 24 features a 22000 mAh battery pack which easily makes it a top contender for the first places in our battery life tests. However, this is not an isolated feature as this smartphone offers quite a balanced set of specifications coupled with an affordable price. A big and fast display, good cameras, reasonably performing power-efficient chipset, great connectivity, and other perks such as a very bright camping lamp create a device that's definitely worth considering if you're on the hunt for a durable smartphone on which you can rely in any type of conditions. Ulefone Armor 24 is built around a 6.78-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and 550 cd/m² maximum brightness. It delivers up to a 120Hz refresh rate and has a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is protected by a 1.1 mm thick Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has an oleophobic coating. The punch hole in the top-center of the display houses the 16MP Sony IMX351 selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture, a 76.3° FoV, and a 6-element lens. Flipping the device to its rear shell, we see two shooters - the 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera with a 6-element lens, 0.8 μm pixel size, a 79.8° FoV, and an f/1.89 aperture as well as the 64MP OmniVision OV64B Night Vision camera with an f/1.79 aperture, a 79.8° FoV, and dual IR lights. The main rear camera supports QHD video recording at 30 fps and the Night Vision unit records FHD videos at 30 fps. A bright camping lamp dominates the design of the rear shell delivering 1000 Lumens max thanks to the 510 LEDs built into it. It has a max power of 6W and is IPX8 waterproof. Actually, the device is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certified for being resistant to water, dust, dirt, extreme temperatures, drops, etc. This enables underwater photography as well.

The smartphone is based on the 12nm MediaTek Helio G96 (MT6781) which houses a 2.05GHz octa-core CPU and a 950MHz dual-core Mali-G57 GPU. There are 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 2133MHz and 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The Armor 24 has a waterproof triple tray providing two slots for Nano SIM cards and a third slot for a microSD card. It supports the following network bands on both SIM cards: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/8), 4G FDD-LTE (B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/28A/28B/66), and 4G TDD-LTE (34/38/39/40/41). The rest of the connectivity options include NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Cast Display. Furthermore, the Armor 24 has an IR blaster that turns it into a convenient remote control, a USB Type-C 2.0 port, a headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It arrives with a powerful antenna that allows you to listen to the radio without plugging in headphones. GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou are also supported with excellent accuracy. There's a pogo pin connector for plugging in an endoscope, microscope, or any other similar device. The model runs on Android 13 and is powered by a 22000 mAh Li-Pol battery that should provide up to 100 hours of talk time and up to 1300 hours of standby time. The unit supports 66W fast charging and 10W reverse wired charging.
