The Sony Xperia 10 VIII has been officially announced as a mid‑range update that leans heavily on refinement rather than reinvention. The new model arrives with a brighter display, enhanced stereo speakers, a refreshed translucent design, and quick‑access software features - while keeping much of the hardware that defined last year's Sony Xperia 10 VII.
The Xperia 10 VIII retains its 6.1‑inch OLED panel and Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, but Sony now claims the screen is approximately 50% brighter, improving outdoor visibility. The stereo speakers have also been re‑tuned for higher volume and stronger bass, delivering a more powerful audio experience than the previous generation.
Design-wise, the new model adopts a translucent rear panel with a matte clear coating, available in Frozen White, Frosted Gray, and Misty Lilac. Sony has also introduced a "Rewards & Pay" shortcut menu, allowing users to double‑press the power button to instantly access payment and loyalty apps - a usability feature absent on the Xperia 10 VII.
Despite these upgrades, the Xperia 10 VIII remains conservative in core hardware. It keeps the same 50MP + 13MP dual rear camera setup, 8MP front camera, 5000 mAh battery, microSD expansion, and 3.5 mm headphone jack. The processor, RAM, and storage configurations are unchanged, and Sony continues to offer IP65/IP68 water resistance.
The biggest difference may be the price: the Xperia 10 VIII launches at £549/€599 - a noticeable increase over the Xperia 10 VII's original pricing, despite the modest hardware changes. Sony positions the device as a practical, everyday‑use smartphone focused on longevity, usability, and familiar features rather than chasing flagship‑level upgrades.
