14 May 2019, 10:53:22

The OnePlus 7 series is official, OnePlus 7 Pro 5G announced in LondonOnePlus 7 Pro is introduced first. It features a 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display with curved edges. It has no holes, no notch, "no gimmicks". 93% is the screen-to-body ratio. This is also the first OnePlus device with a QHD+ resolution. It has even received an A+ mark from DisplayMate - the industry's highest. The unit supports 90 Hz refresh rate, HDR10/HDR10+ and offers 800 nits peak brightness. The manufacturer introduces a new Horizon Light and a Blue Light Filter. The Fluid AMOLED screen is paired to stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos for a really immersive visual experience.

OnePlus 7 Pro has a pop-up front-facing camera. It pops up in 0.63 sec. and houses a 16MP sensor. The mechanism has been tested rigorously - if you use the selfie camera 150 times a day, the mechanism will last for 5.5 years. There's even a video demonstrating the strength of the mechanism by showing it can hold plenty of kilograms when it's out. When the device falls, it senses that and automatical retracts the camera.

OnePlus 7 Pro is also the first 1+ device with three cameras. The first is a 48MP primary shooter with a Sony IMX586 sensor. The surface area of the sensor has been increased together with the effective pixel size. It is paired to a 7-element lens with an f/1.6 aperture. This camera is optically stabilized. The wide-angle camera has a 16MP sensor, 117-degree FoV and an f/2.2 aperture. It is aided by phase-detection AF. The telephoto lens has an 8MP sensor, an f/2.4 aperture and offers 3x optical zoom. This camera is optically stabilized as well. The focusing method is changed to three-mode one - the camera chooses from PDAF, CAF, LAF. The 1+ 7 Pro camera has gained 111 points from DxOMark. The Camera app has Google Lens integrated.

Obviously, OnePlus 7 Pro is based on the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. The RAM measures 12GB. RAM Boost is added to shorten screen load times during gameplay. The device also uses UFS 3.0 storage. The cooling system is totally changed. It now uses liquid cooling for longer gaming sessions to longer battery life. The battery's capacity is 4000 mAh. It is paired to a 30W Warp Charger. The battery can get from 0% to 40% in 20 minutes. Finally, the device offers an X-direction vibration motor for an improved response during gaming, notifications, etc.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G has been introduced during the London event but not during the India one. The 5G device will be available in Europe via EE - a UK based mobile carrier.

The OnePlus 7 announcement begins with the introduction of the red coloured version of the model. The handset has an FHD+ display with a notch for the selfie shooter, dual stereo speakers and a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary camera with an f/1.7 lens as part of the dual rear setup. The second shooter is a 5MP depth-sensing one. It also features a Snapdragon 855 chipset. The storage is UFS 3.0 as well.

Availability: the models will be available in India as of May 16 (the Pro) and June (base OnePlus 7). The Pro will go on sale in the UK on May 21st and the base OnePro 7 will be available in June. Prices for the OnePlus 7 Pro: GBP 649 for the 6GB+128GB, GBP 699 for the 8GB+256GB, GBP 799 for the 12GB+256GB version. The OnePlus 7 costs GBP 499 for the 6GB+128GB variant and GBP 549 for the 8GB+256GB version. The 5G version will be available exclusively via EE in the UK.
