Ulefone RugKing - the rugged powerhouse with a voice that roars
13 October 2025, 21:04:02
When Ulefone calls the RugKing the "loudest rugged monster," they aren't exaggerating. This device isn't just another tough smartphone - it's a survival tool, a portable speaker, and a workhorse designed for those who demand durability without sacrificing entertainment or budget.
The Ulefone RugKing combines a metal chassis with a plastic rear shell covered with shock-absorbing TPU that has an aramid fiber-like finish. It looks great and is non-slippery. That finish gradually fades out towards the chamfered edges on all four sides, allowing the TPU to flow onto all four frames, covering the top and bottom entirely, while the side frames are only partially covered. The device is 83.35 mm wide, 173.4 mm high, 18.3 mm thick, and weighs 397 grams. It is engineered to be a practical, low-fuss companion in heavy-duty jobs and outdoor adventures.
The front of the smartphone is dominated by the display - an old-generation 5.99-inch unit with huge top and bottom bezels. The top bezel houses a small receiver, the front camera, the light, and the proximity sensors. On-screen navigation gestures are supported. The frame protrudes from the glass surface, providing additional protection for the screen. The latter offers HD+ resolution (720 x 1440 px) and 910 cd/m² maximum brightness to keep on-screen content readable and comfortable under direct sunlight. The display balances size and legibility to support both one-handed use and extended sessions outdoors.
Entertainment is another area where the RugKing surprises. With Widevine L1 certification, it supports high-definition streaming on platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+. Combined with its booming speaker and bright display, it transforms downtime in the wild into a portable cinema experience.
The camera system is equally good for work and play, comprising a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 main shooter with a 6-element lens, an f/1.75 aperture, and a 76.9° FoV. It is adjoined by a 2MP macro lens on the back, while on the front, there's an 8MP Samsung S5K4H8 snapper for selfies with an f/2.0 aperture, a 4-element lens, and an 84° FoV. The two cameras are positioned on the two sides of the big speaker module placed at the top of the rear shell. The latter also houses dock charging pins and a lanyard hole.
Practicality is woven into every aspect of RugKing's design. At the top of the device sits a powerful glare flashlight, ready to cut through darkness on construction sites, hiking trails, or late-night commutes. It's a simple but invaluable tool for workers and outdoor enthusiasts who need reliable illumination at a moment's notice when cycling, hiking, or fishing. It offers 126 Lumens of brightness and is just a tap away.
A USB Type-C port and a headphone jack occupy the bottom frame, while a three-slot SIM tray, a uSmart connector, and a customizable button are placed on the left frame. The right frame is the home of the Power button with an embedded fingerprint sensor and the Volume rocker.
Powering the device is a massive 9600 mAh battery, designed to keep going long after ordinary smartphones give up. It supports 18W fast charging and even doubles as a power bank thanks to reverse charging, allowing users to top up other devices in the field. For those who spend long stretches away from outlets, this endurance is a game-changer. The battery provides up to 522 hours of standby time, up to 52 hours of talk time, and up to 12 hours of video playing.
A Unisoc T7255 octa-core processor powers the RugKing for consistently smooth performance across apps, multitasking, and moderate gaming. The device includes 8GB RAM plus an additional 8GB dynamic RAM expansion for enhanced multitasking headroom. Built-in 256 GB of internal storage is expandable up to 2TB via microSD, offering ample space for apps, media, and work files.
The phone ships with Android 15, offering a clean and modern software experience. Various AI features are supported by the device, including AI recording summary with one-tap note taking, AI writing assistant, circle-to-search, AI calculator, and AI assistant (Gemini). The smartphone also supports Wi-Fi 5, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, headset-free radio, and all major navigation services - GPS, Glonass, Beidou, and Galileo.
The RugKing arrives in a newly designed Ulefone box. It combines a geometric pattern in different shades of yellow with a dynamic splash line across the top of the box, depicting two running figures and the Ulefone logo in between. Inside the box, the device is accompanied by a hard screen protector, SIM tray pin, charging cable, 18W charger (EU plug), lanyard, and paperwork
