Add DeviceSpecifications as a preferred source on GoogleMotorola is stepping decisively into the next era of foldable devices with the debut of the Motorola Razr Fold, the company's first book‑style foldable and its most ambitious smartphone to date. The device expands the Razr family beyond clamshells and into a category built for productivity, creativity, and immersive entertainment, pairing a slim 6.6‑inch outer display with a spacious 8.1‑inch 2K LTPO inner screen. Motorola positions the Razr Fold as a no‑compromise flagship, combining a top‑ranked camera system, the largest battery ever used in a foldable, and deep AI integration in a design that remains remarkably thin and lightweight.
Motorola emphasizes durability and comfort as core pillars of the Razr Fold. When opened, the device measures just 4.6mm thick, and 9.9mm when closed - impressively slim for a phone housing a large battery and advanced camera hardware. A stainless steel teardrop hinge guides each open and close, while a titanium inner plate distributes pressure evenly across the flexible display. Ultra‑Thin Glass and an Anti‑Shock Film help maintain a smooth, crease‑free appearance over time.
The exterior introduces another industry first: Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which Motorola says delivers more than 75% better drop performance compared to previous generations. Together, these structural upgrades aim to make the Razr Fold both elegant and resilient, capable of withstanding the demands of daily use.
Unfolded, the Razr Fold becomes a large, bright canvas for multitasking, gaming, and streaming. Motorola claims it offers the brightest interior display of any foldable on the market, ensuring visibility even in direct sunlight. Audio is powered by Dolby Atmos and enhanced with Sound by Bose—the only foldable to offer Bose‑tuned stereo speakers.
The flexible form factor supports multiple modes. Laptop mode enables comfortable typing and dual‑window workflows, while tent mode is ideal for watching content hands‑free. Fold‑forward positioning allows the outer and inner displays to work together, and the hinge design lets the phone stand on its own like a tripod for creative photography.
Two finishes - Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White -give the device distinct visual identities, each with a premium texture inspired by high‑end fabrics.
Motorola is positioning the Razr Fold as a photography powerhouse. According to DXOMARK, it ranks as the #1 foldable camera system and #2 smartphone camera system in North America. The setup includes a 50MP Sony LYT-828 main sensor, Motorola's largest 50MP sensor yet, capable of Dolby Vision video and 8K recording. The second rear one is a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, OIS, and up to 100x Super Zoom Pro powered by Moto AI. The trio is finalized with a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 122° field of view and Macro Vision for extreme close‑ups. A 32MP internal selfie camera with 4K video, plus a 20MP external selfie camera for flexible capture options complete the camera setup.
The Razr Fold integrates AI throughout the interface. Moto AI offers contextual assistance, including summaries of missed notifications and real‑time transcription of conversations. Users can choose between multiple AI ecosystems - Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Perplexity AI - depending on the task at hand.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform powers these features, supported by 16GB of RAM (with RAM Boost) and up to 1TB of storage. A liquid‑cooling system helps maintain performance during gaming and heavy multitasking. Motorola promises up to seven Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.
A 6000mAh battery sets a new benchmark for foldables, enabled by silicon‑carbon technology that allows high capacity without adding bulk. Motorola claims users can capture, edit, and multitask for hours without worrying about power. Charging is equally ambitious, with 80W TurboPower delivering more than 12 hours of use in just 12 minutes, and 50W wireless charging offers fast cable‑free top‑ups.
The Razr Fold supports the Moto Pen Ultra, a stylus designed for precision writing, sketching, and editing. With pressure sensitivity, tilt detection, palm rejection, and low latency, it turns the device into a flexible creative workstation. Features like Quick Toolbar, Quick Clip, Sketch to Image, and Speed Share streamline workflows, while the pen’s all‑day battery and fast charging ensure it’s ready whenever inspiration strikes.
The Motorola Razr Fold will launch in North America in the coming months, with pricing and exact release dates to be announced closer to availability.
