There is no earpiece/receiver. The model features Huawei's Acoustic Display Technology, meaning the sound comes out from the screen. This is what Samsung has been doing for some of its models, Xiaomi uses a similar tech as well. Moreover, the Huawei Matei 30 Pro has only one button - the power one. Instead of physical volume buttons, it uses virtual ones placed on the left and the right frame, so a double tap on those would suffice, no matter whether you're left or right-handed. These virtual buttons can also be customized and be used as shutter buttons for taking selfies. The available colours include Classic Black, Space Silver, Cosmic Purple, Emerald Green. The top of the handset is glossy and the bottom is matte and it goes with the colour gradient. The rear cameras are placed in a circular module with a Halo Ring around it. In addition to those, Huawei presented the Vegan Leather edition in Orange and Forest Green colours.

The Kirin 990 5G powers the Mate 30 Pro 5G. It has an integrated 5G modem with NSA and SA support. The chipset offers a dramatic increase in performance compared with the previous generation. GPU Turbo has been improved as well with 60% increase graphic performance. The device has a total of 21 antennas inside, 14 of those are 5G ones. Hence, the Mate 30 Pro 5G supports a plethora of 5G bands - n79, n78, n77, n41, n38, n28, n3, n1. This is the first smartphone in the world to support so many 5G bands. The model has a hybrid, dual-SIM card tray with both cards supporting 5G bands. The memory card is Huawei's nano-memory card. The chipset is paired to a graphene cooling film with which it gets up to 3.9 degrees cooler. Both the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro support 27W wireless charging and 40W wired charging. A new generation of wireless reverse charging is also employed with 3x increase in charging speed. Huawei also introduced the in-care wireless SuperCharge tech.

The camera department is one of the most interesting ones about the Mate 30 series. The Huawei Mate 30 is equipped with a 16MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 lens and a 17 mm focal length (35 mm equivalent). It is adjoined by a 40MP SuperSensing wide shooter with an f/1.8 lens and a 27 mm focal length (35 mm equivalent). There's an 8MP telephoto unit with OIS and an f/2.4 aperture. The fourth unit is for laser focus only. The whole camera setup supports 3x optical and 30x digital zoom. It is also capable of 2.5 cm macro photography and is aided by OIS+AIS.

The Huawei Matei 30 Pro has a more advanced SuperSensing Cine camera configuration. It uses a 40MP ultra-wide cine shooter with an f/1.8 lens and a 1/1.54" sensor, a 40MP SuperSensing wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS with a 1/1.7" sensor, the same 8MP telephoto unit with OIS and f/2.4 aperture and a 3D Depth Sensing module. This setup also supports OIS+AIS, Pro Bokeh, 45x zooming range, 3x optical and 30x digital zoom. 4K time-lapse videos are supported as well as an incredible slow-motion video recording at 7680 fps.

Huawei also introduces EMUI 10 based on Android 10 with a new AOD display with lots of customization options. There's a more sophisticated Dark Mode with a Dark Mode Engine for apps. Fluid Motion and Smart Gesture control are also part of EMUI 10 support thanks to the gesture sensor we mentioned above. It can also follow the direction of your eyes thanks to the AI Auto-Rotate. Intelligent Multi-screen collaboration allows for seamless work with multiple devices. The two Mate 30 smartphones support the Huawei M-Pen with 4096 levels of pressure. 3D Face Unlock and a new generation in-display fingerprint sensor are employed for the highest level of security.
