Apple might source out OLED display panels for the iPhones from BOE

9 July 2019, 06:39:04

Apple might source out OLED display panels for the iPhones from BOEDigitimes cites a tech.qq.com report, according to which Apple might source out OLED display panels for the iPhones from BOE as well. This will be done in order to overcome Japan's recent restrictions on exports of fluorinated polyimides to Korea, which directly impacts Samsung's and LG's businesses because fluorine polyimides are used in the production of OLED screens for TVs and smartphones. Import of photoresist and hydrogen fluoride used for semiconductors and colorless polyimide (CPI) films for smartphone displays have also been limited by Japan. A year ago, we reported that BOE is still aiming at striking a deal with Apple for supplying displays for the iPhone. After all, with the help of Japan, this might turn into reality.Source
