FOSSiBOT S3 Pro arrives in a flat, rectangular box in the brand's vivid orange color. The FOSSiBOT name is imprinted on the lid in silver color. FOSSiBOT S3 Pro Design

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro has a perfectly refined form factor that exudes elegance and sophistication. The device impresses with its compact size, thin profile, and excellent build. Moreover, it delivers an excellent handheld experience. The device has 3D curved vertical sides both on the front and back creating an extremely slim profile, even though the overall thickness of the handset is 8.65 mm. While this depth is quite average along with the weight of 199 grams, the width and height of the model, are below average for a device with a 6.67-inch display and a 5000 mAh battery and contribute to the overall compact look and feel.

We are reviewing a Feather Green unit. The plastic rear shell has a matte finish with a feather-like pattern that creates a beautiful light-refracting effect. The frame is also made of plastic and is in matching color with a matte finish. A big circular camera island with a metal silver-colored frame graces the rear shell and houses one of the model's highlights - the secondary screen for selfies. The front is graced by the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro most attractive feature - the expansive 3D curved AMOLED display with extremely thin bezels (3 mm on top and bottom, 2 mm on the sides). In order to maximise the screen estate, the manufacturer has placed the earpiece on the top frame, instead of above the display. The bottom frame houses the speaker, USB Type-C 2.0 port, and the hybrid, dual-Nano SIM card tray. The right frame is the home of the Power button and the Volume rocker. The device features an in-display fingerprint sensor and supports on-screen gestures as well as virtual navigation buttons.

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro Displays

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro is built around a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2400 px) and a 60Hz refresh rate. It delivers a typical brightness of 500 cd/m² and a typical brightness in brightly lit environments of around 800 cd/m². With a 10-bit color bit depth, the screen supports 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The curved screen provides vibrant colors and crisp details whenever you're browsing photos, watching videos, or gaming. From the display settings, you can adjust manually the color mode and color temperature. Always-on display (AOD) is also supported with various options for customizing its elements and color scheme. The AOD displays the time, date, battery charge, and notifications on the lock screen without the need to unlock the device. You can also customize the edge lighting features, choose a charging animation lock screen layout and signature, and enable Magazine Unlock to display a different wallpaper on the lock screen each time the display is turned on.

The Secondary display positioned on the rear shell occupying the center of the camera island uses a 1.09-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 240 x 240 px and a typical brightness of 400 cd/m². This display has a round shape and has various useful features. For starters, you can use it as a viewfinder and snap selfies with the main rear camera. This expands the flexibility and convenience of the smartphone for inspiring creative takes on selfies from different angles. In addition to using the camera, the auxiliary screen can display a clock, a compass, and the music player controls. It is touch-sensitive and you can access them simply by swiping to the left and right. A swipe-up opens the list of notifications. You can customize the clock face, screen timeout, backlight level, and the photo resolution of both the front and rear cameras.

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro Cameras and photography features

Speaking of the cameras, the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro is equipped with a 64MP Sony IMX682 main shooter with an f/1.89 aperture. It is capable of recording FHD videos at 30 fps. The camera is adjoined by a dual-LED flash and a 2MP BF2257CS macro lens. An 8MP Sony IMX219 sensor occupies the punch hole in the top center of the screen. It is paired with an f/2.0 lens and records 1080p videos. Face unlock is supported.

The camera app enables you to use AI scene recognition as the device can recognize 13 different scenes (night, day, portrait, architecture, text, dogs, cats, flowers, beach, sunset, backlight, food, and mountains) and to optimize the photo settings accordingly. The Film Mode provides five filters for creating photos with cinematic effects. AI Cute Mode allows you to add fun stickers and animated effects to faces. The S3 Pro can also select the best faces from a group shot and combine them into a single perfect photo with the Group Shot Optimization feature. Portrait Blur allows you to adjust the aperture level using advanced algorithms to identify and blur the background for professional-looking portraits. The camera of the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro also supports Smart QR code scanning, Document Correction, and Fast Capture, among all else.

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro OS and User Interface

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro runs on almost stock Android 14 with the brand's mild overlay on top. In our video published above we have demonstrated in detail the software, user interface, and various related features of the device. It arrives with a built-in smart assistant enabling quick access to various phone features and settings. The quick-access widgets provide easy access to frequently used apps such as camera and flashlight. Smart Touch is a floating dot that serves as an alternative way of navigating through the device. You can customize it to match the way you interact with the smartphone and to give you quick access to the features you use most. Split-screen is supported by default. Various special functions are also on board. You can activate the Widget Box that serves as a smart capsule on the display, clone apps such as Facebook, QQ, WeChat, and WhatsApp; enable App Lock, Anti-Peppong, and Anti-theft alarm for mobile, etc.

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro System-on-Chip, Battery, Sensors, Connectivity

A MediaTek Helio G85 (MT6769Z) chipset ticks under the hood of the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro. Built on the 12nm process, it houses an octa-core CPU with 2x 2.0GHz Cortex-A75 cores and 6x 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores in a big.LITTLE structure. The graphics department is managed by a 1GHz Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU. This system-on-chip delivers an average of 250K points on AnTuTu 10. There are 6GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 1800 MHz. It can be virtually expanded with an additional 10GB, 12GB, or 14GB. With the One-Touch Cleanup feature, you can clean up RAM by closing unnecessary apps with a single tap for a faster experience. The storage measures 128GB and can be expanded via a memory card. Of those 128GB, 113GB are available to the user.

The device has a 5000 mAh battery pack supporting 18W wired charging. The manufacturer specified that it provides up to 11 hours of call time and up to 250 hours of standby time. The hardware-reporting apps mention 20 sensors on board the device including an accelerometer, magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, light, proximity sensor, gravity, linear acceleration, rotation vector, game rotation vector, significant motion, step detector, step counter, geomagnetic rotation vector, tilt detector, wake gesture, device orientation, and others. There's an in-display fingerprint sensor that works perfectly fine.

FOSSiBOT S3 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and NFC. It provides fast and accurate navigation with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou support. The bottom frame houses a hybrid, dual Nano-SIM card tray with both SIM cards supporting the following network bands: 2G GSM (B2, B3, B5, B8), 3G WCDMA (B1, B2, B4, B5, B6, B8, B19), 4G FDD-LTE (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28AB, B66), 4G TDD-LTE (B38, B40, B41).
